Hi, I’m Morgan and I’m a mum to two school-aged boys; BP who is 11, and LP who is 6. They keep me busy most days by running around the house leaving dirty clothes on the floor, or muddy carpets behind them. But I love them, they are my boys.

I write most days at Morgan’s Milieu and can be found writing about daily life as a parent as well as sharing reviews and occasionally some fiction. Writing has been part of my life since 2011, more so recently. I love nothing more than a peaceful house so I can play music and write.

My Love of Music - Thanks to my Father

Music has always been a part of my life. My father is an avid guitar player, in fact he plays in a band now. When I was growing up it was his dream to play guitar on stage, and now he does that every weekend. Go DAD!

From a very young age I was introduced to music and I remember my father having his very own ‘music room’ in the back of the house. He had keyboards, guitars, amps, all kinds of equipment in there, and even carpeted the walls to try and muffle the sound through the rest of the house. He loved it.

His favourite guitarist has to be Jimi Hendrix. In my father’s words “he is a legend”. I have visions of my father rocking away trying to imitate Jimi’s music. I will never forget the look of enjoyment on his face whenever he played the guitar. He is happiest with a guitar in his hands.

So I guess it’s no surprise that music plays a big part in my life. I spend the majority of my day listening to music, whether it’s while I’m sat at my computer writing, while putting dishes in the dishwasher, or cleaning the kitchen. I love all kinds of music from Classical to Rock to Pop and the only music I really don’t enjoy listening to is Opera.

I have a few favourite artists and my favourite at the time depends on what mood I’m in. I adore Michael Buble, love to rant along with P!nk, and sometimes even dance to Abba. Right now I’m loving Sugarland.

But there will always be a special place in my heart for Jimi Hendrix. Whenever I hear his music I think of my father, rocking away on his guitar. I have only ever seen my father perform once, at a family gathering. He loved it, and so did I. Seeing my dad doing what he’d dreamed filled me with pride.

I only hope I can make him that proud of me.
