It Ain't Easy Being Green PLUS #BOTB results

Ahhh… Monday again :)

I hope that all of the UK mums had a great day yesterday.  I spent the day in bed trying to find that hour that was lost.  I sure hope that I am able to find it before Fall.

Our Monday’s Music Moves Me theme for this week is ‘Color Me With Music’. I’m pretty certain we just had this theme, but I’m guessing someone was sleeping on the job and not paying attention. Rather than recycle an old post…. And because there are a bajillion (yes, a bajillion!) songs with colors in the title, I figured I would whip up something new for today.

Being that St Patrick’s Day is this coming weekend, I thought I’d go with the color Green.
As Kermie would say:

And in the interest of time, I’ve narrowed my list down to simply FIVE green songs. These are songs that I enjoy, and I am sure that you will as well. As added bonus, I’ll start the list off with Kermie :)

  • Bein' Green - Kermit
  • Green Onions - Booker T & The MGs
  • Green Tambourine - Lemon Pipers
  • Green River - Creedence Clearwater Revival
  • Green-Eyed Lady - Sugarloaf
  • Green Grass and High Tides - Outlaws

It's also time to reveal the winner of the most recent Battle of the Bands. If you recall, we had two different covers of Offspring's "Gone Away".  The raspy sound of Five Finger Death Punch (FFDP) was up against the haunting sound of Noctura.

Here are the Results:

Five Finger Death Punch with 16 votes
Noctura with 6 votes
And 2 poor saps that were unable to form an opinion. (This is something I just don't understand. 99.99% of the voters are bloggers - yet they can't come up with an opinion. It has nothing to do with whether one is familiar with the artists or the song. It just baffles me that one simply cannot listen and state which of the two they prefer. And if they can't do that... what does that say about their ability to blog?) Just me humble opinion.

Hope that everyone has a safe and fun week! Don’t forget to stop back in on the 15th for the next episode of Battle of the Bands.  I’ve got a good one (in my humble opinion) lined up and you’re going to want to come cast your vote so that your favorite wins.

  1. Mary,

You did fabulous with your "Color Me with Mewsic" playlist with St. Patty's Day just around the corner. I wish I had been that clever. CCR really rocked me this me singing "Green River". What an pawsome band! I've been swept up in getting my A2Z posts together so I blame my inability to juggle more than one thing at a time very well. BTW, are you doing the April challenge?

Well...my pick did not win. That's okay, that's alright. 5FDP did an pawsome job! Oh, boy do I ever hear you on bloggers not leaving a vote. I have the same problem but I just figured that they aren't interested in voting and that's fine by me. It would be a lot more fun if they'd help make the battle more interesting, though. Yeah, the color theme is a repeat but I think this is really a great theme. Michele has spotlighted some excellent songs in her Kaleidoscope of Colors series, plus thus far Mike & Joyce did something a little different which makes me GREEN with envy. :D Have a colorific week and thanks for hitting the dance floor with the 4M gang.

    1. Thanks, Cathy!

I'll be making my rounds to the others hopefully today. Have a bit on my plate scheduled for the day. I've decided to not join in the A2Z officially this year. After some thorough evaluation, I decided burnout was just too much of a risk for me right now. I hate seeing so many good bloggers just up and disappear shortly after the challenge, and it's always a struggle to get back on track. I may toss in a few A2Z posts during the time frame, but I don't believe I will be joining officially.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    2. Mary,

I thought about not joining the A2Z challenge and do it in a non-official capacity but then I knew I wouldn't keep to it, so I just took the plunge. I am going to do my level best to not disappear in Blogosphere after April, though. I hope once I get my posts completed that I can get a few done ahead for May. That will ease the transition back into normal blogging life if I do that. Well...it's bad to the old drawing board or in my case my iPad. :D Have a good week, dearie!

I like blogging with a purpose :) It's nice to be able to tie in the themes differently.

  5. hahahaha I remember this one on TV watching it with my granddaughter she giggled all the way through it. It's the cutest ever. I had totally forgotten about that one. I'm glad you didn't. It's so cute. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Green certainly fits! Poor Kermie. Fun picks. I wouldn't have thought of the second song. I guess you have to know the name. It's awesome! I found myself up and dancing to the later additions. Fun!

  8. Green was a perfect theme for the coming week (Saturday is my son's birthday; why didn't I think of that!) Green Onions is a favorite of my husband's and we both love CCR. I'm still on the fence for A2Z and I think that is my answer - if I can't commit, I shouldn't. But I loved the theme (not musical) I had already picked, so....stay tuned. Ha!-Ha! Maybe they wanted to wait and see who won first, before forming "their own" opinion.

That would be appreciated, as I strongly suspect my underdog is going to need all the help she can get. (As soon as that first vote rolls in for her, then I will be able to breathe easy and just enjoy watching the Battle run its course.)

What's curious to me is that my "underdog" is actually the more famous of the two competitors and is in the 'Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame'. But I don't think any of that is going to help her when the songs get played. She's going up against what I consider one of the most badass-y songs ever recorded. (As one YouTube commenter wrote: "This song makes me wanna kill ISIS and Al Queda!" Ha! Got him all riled up, didn't it?)

Then again, I could be completely wrong. ...April 23, 1983 all over again. ;o)

  10. Hey Mary, Happy Hump Day!
First of all, I love the Green songs! Great pairing with St Paddy's Day. I love all those green songs, especially Green Onions. That's is one kickass song. And Kermit the Frog is definitely a favorite. I didn't even think of him when I did my Green edition a few weeks back. I just love Kermie. He's so damn cute. And I LOVE that Muppets rock band, "Dr. Teeth & the Electric Mayhem" -- haha! Great name. I just tried to post a pic of them here but it didn't take for some reason. Anyway, they're a riot to watch...

So sorry I missed your battle on the 1st. I didn't make it to anyone's early month battles. I'm only doing the 15th battles so I often don't make the rounds on the 1st. However, I did just go and listen to your Battle of the Sexes. I listened to both songs TWICE and as I'm writing this comment am on my third listen! What an awesome battle! I actually think both versions are better than the original by Offspring. It's hard for me to choose a favorite as I really enjoyed both immensely but if having to choose one, I'd go with Noctura. I really dig the piano accompaniment to the vocals. i'd almost rather split my vote with a half vote for each though. :)

I decided not to do the A-Z again this year. I just don't have time. I'm about to be drowning in doing my taxes. I wish I had already started them and I really need to get started on them this week. Plus I'm having my shoulder surgery on 4/2 and I know I'll be on heavy pain meds and just ain't gonna feel like blogging for a while...

And Girl, I'm right there with ya: I totally get your frustration with people commenting but not bothering to vote. It's like why even bother commenting if you're not going to contribute a vote? I don't get it.
I also don't get this: I get highly irritated with people partaking in the blog hop but NOT going to each and every other participant's blog and not taking the time to read the post or listen to a little bit of the chosen songs. I totally get that I put together really lengthy posts and not everyone has time to read the whole thing and I don't expect folks to read the whole thing but geez, at least make an effort to stop by and glance at the damn work that I've done and leave a comment. It really irritates me because I make a point of visiting and leaving pretty substantial comments on EVERY participant's post, letting them know that I've listened to every song that they chose to highlight. I don't get that consideration back from several others though. One in particular I just quit going to, because she NEVER ONCE has bothered to even show up at my 4M post so why should I waste my time going over to hers, reading it and leaving a comment if I'm getting NOTHING in return? There is a code of courtesy conduct in these blog hops. I wish everyone would adhere to that code....and if they can't, DON'T PARTICIPATE! I shouldn't let it bother me and for the most part I can blow it off but the lack of common courtesy just ruins the overall experience, I think. And I wish that the hosts would make a point of highlighting this issue and speaking to it once in a while with reminders about how to be a good blog hop participant. Is that too much to ask?? Arrrgh...

    Have a great day Mary.

Hope to see you around tomorrow (I've still got to put my post together, but it will happen!) Have a great week!

  11. I've got an opinion about just everything and especially don't mind sharing it when it's about music.

In my opinion, Sugarloaf's "Green-Eyed Lady" is one of the best recordings ever--the long version.
