#4M Unconventional Duets

Today’s theme for #MondaysMusicMovesMe or #4M has been chosen by Stacy of Stacy Uncorked.  She has chosen all of the themes for the month of November.  Today her theme selection is “Unconventional Duets”

I’ll be honest. This one seemed a bit difficult for me. But with the assistance of Google, I think I have found a couple of good ones to share.  And because it was not an easy task, I’m just going to keep this post short and sweet :)

First up we have Heavy Metal's Anthrax and the Rap Group Public Enemy bringing us noise.

Next we have Country Music Legend Loretta Lynn and Rocker Jack White of ‘White Stripes’. I personally love this video for the footage of where I lived for 20 years.

How about pop star Janet Jackson and the legendary Jazz musician Herb Alpert..

And we’ll wrap up the post with one of my favorite songs (but not necessarily my favorite artists)  Country Music’s Chris Stapleton and Pop Music’s Justin Timberlake

What other unconventional duet parings can you think of? Tell me about it in the comments below.

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this bloghop.

  3. Sorry I made this week challenging, Mary...heh! But look at you! You did an outstanding job on your selections! I love them all, especially the Justin Timberlake/Chris Stapleton one - I shared one they did after this, but this one remains my favorite. :) Thanks so much for the dance! Have a great week! :)

    1. Thanks Stacy!

It was definitely a challenge, but I'm usually not one to back down from a good challenge.

  4. I skipped over that Janet Jackson-Herb Alpert duo, for some reason. Good choices here!

I originally was only going to post only one or two songs, but this was a fun exercise.

  6. I did not know that Janet and Herb Alpert ever recorded a duet, but the others are favorites of mine. I very briefly considered the Loretta/Jack and Anthrax/Public Enemy duets, but ultimately went with something else. One of my proudest Mama moments was playing "Bring the Noise" in the car for the kids during one of our long trips, and planning to introduce my sons to it....but they just started jamming out singing along when they heard it!

Sorry I didn't get to really participate in Rocktober MusicFest. I really wish I had been able to. My blog kind of imploded not once, but twice during the latter part of the month. I'm just doing my best to make some NaBloPoMo posts on the weekdays this month. Are you participating in NaBloPoMo or NaNoWriMo this year?

    1. Hey Kim!

It's okay if you missed RocktoberMusicFest this year. I'll be doing it again next year. Am hoping to make it an annual tradition.

I've slowed down considerably for this month in efforts to avoid burnout.

I'll be around shortly to check out your post to see what you came up with :)

  7. Some interesting match-ups here, Mary. I didn't think Anthrax and Public Enemy were that good together (that's probably my dislike of rap music talking), but the others meshed pretty well. Great response to the challenge!

Yeah, I didn't think the Anthrax/Public Enemy was a good matchup either. But they are so diverse I couldn't not share. :)

  8. Mary,

Whew, I'm finally here to dance with you! Life continues on the crazy side. I'm going to skip on your first pick. It didn't appeal to my ears. Loretta Lynn and White Stripes rocker is really an unlikely artist pairing but surprisingly their duet sounded good. I loved the humorous opening in Janet & Herb's mewsic video. I don't remember this song strangely. Justin & Chris pulled off 'Tennessee Whiskey' quite well. They harmonize nicely. I find that I like Justin more as time goes by than in his early years. He's not one of my favorites but I appreciate the changes in his song choices and changes over the years. Thanks for sharing your selections on the dance floor. Furtastic job! Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  9. Justin Timberlake has definitely been around eh.
    Quite a nice line up.
    Thanks for the dance.

  10. Hi Mary. Happy Friday. How did this happen? A whole week whizzed by again...
Great song duets here. My favorite is Tennessee Whiskey with Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake. Boy, that Timberlake dude sure has made an amazing career for himself. A great boy-band-member-turned-solo-hit-artist. He continues to amaze me.

I also loved seeing Loretta Lynn with Jack White! That was quite a surprise. She still sounds amazing as ever. What an odd pairing that was!

Janet Jackson and Herb Alpert was pretty cool too. Fun video. Bucky: haha

Your first video didn't load and I'll go check it out later...

Hope you have a good weekend, Hard to believe it's here already. Hope you've had a mellow week and are getting some rest after your busy October.

    talk soon,

    Michele at Angels Bark

  11. I love the Herb Alpert and Janet Jackson collab. It is so unconventional and more Janet than Herb. But, it's the Janet msuic genre that I love.

  12. Dang! I wouldn't have guessed any of these combos in a zillion years! My fav (total surprise) was Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake - this sounded so soulful. Anthrax looked like they were having fun, and Janet Jackson and Herb Alpert? Well, the first couple of minutes were funny. You hit a home run with this one!
