#4M : National Day Calendar Music

Monday’s Music Moves Me is here again. This time we have the lovely Cathy of Curious as a Cathy as our musical conductor.  Her choice of theme for today is based on National Day Calendar and she has requested that we use the keywords MAIL, SOUP, & VACUUM for our song selections.

That being said…. I’m sure this post is going to come across as a bit of a head scratcher. I do like a bit of a challenge, though. Now, those of you who know me by now also know I like to twist things just a bit.

So here are my selections for today:

Representing MAIL:

The Lettermen - The Lettermen are an American male pop vocal trio. The Lettermen's trademark is close-harmony pop songs with light arrangements. The group started in 1959. They have had two Top 10 singles, 16 Top 10 singles on the Adult Contemporary chart, 32 consecutive Billboard chart albums, 11 gold records, and five Grammy nominations.

Representing SOUP:

Bowling for Soup -  Bowling for Soup is an American rock band originally formed in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1994. The band consists of Jaret Reddick, Chris Burney, Gary Wiseman, and Rob Felicetti. The band is best known for its singles "Girl All the Bad Guys Want", "1985", "Almost", and "High School Never Ends".

Representing VACUUM:

Vacuum - Vacuum is the name of a Swedish pop band. The members are Mattias Lindblom and Anders Wollbeck. They also work as song writers and producers under the same name. As songwriters and producers Wollbeck and Lindblom have worked with artists such as Tarja Turunen, Tina Arena, Garou, Monrose, TVXQ, Keisha Buchanan, f(x) and The Canadian Tenors. Wollbeck and Lindblom are signed to Universal Music Publishing world wide.

Looking forward to seeing how everyone else did with this theme!

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this bloghop.

  1. Mary,

I knew you wouldn't disappoint me with your mewsic choices. I realized even when I came up with this theme it would be a difficult one, so I'm happy to see that you put your purrsonal spin on this theme. The Lettermen are mighty smoooth and relaxing. Bowling for Soup is quite the opposite making me wanna get to my feet. I came across Vaccum in my research. I hadn't heard of them before, either. I didn't listen to any of their mewsic and I'm glad that I didn't because it was a real pleasure to play your two selections by the Swedish pop band. My favorite is 'I Breathe'. Did they have a presence in the US? Great job, dearie! Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

    1. Hi Cathy

I hadn't heard of Vacuum before either. There's not a lot of information about them that I could find, so I don't know if they have much of a presence here in the US.

    1. Thanks!

The videos that I wanted to show had regional restrictions on them - that's why I ended up using lyric videos.

    1. Thanks, John!

It was a tough one for sure. I kept singing 'one of these things is not like the other' while putting it together.

  5. You put a great spin on it, one which I was thinking of doing for the next prompt—you know the Alarm, etc. That Swedish band wasn't half bad.

    1. Thanks, Cathy!

I haven't even thought about the next prompt yet. Still trying to think up something fun for free choice week.

  6. Loved the Bowling for Soup selections, and the others were new to me. I'm late getting mine up, but it should be posted and linked up either later tonight or early tomorrow. I need to swing by all the Battle blogs, too.

    1. Better late than never they say! I have to make my rounds for #4M still as well. Mondays are crazy busy for me, and I'm struggling to keep my eyes open - but still have a bit of workd to do first.

  8. The Lettermen - oh, yes. My cousin will never forget them performing at her college in her freshman year, she was so thrilled. Bowling For Soup was a group I had heard of but had never heard until this theme introduced me to them. I love those songs (and yes, they should be the backup band for Weird Al.) Vacuum - new to me, and I like their songs especially the second one. Very nice set, excellent take on this theme!
