#SongLyricSunday

Time again for Song Lyric Sunday!

Jim over at A Unique Title For Me has stepped up as Guest Host for this fun weekly post.  Thank you, Jim!

This week our word prompt is “Hill/Mountain”.

I was going to take the easy route on this post and simply use the rock group “Mountain”, but as I was listening to random songs on YouTube (what? Don’t you do that as well?) a song played that was PERFECT for today’s theme. So perfect, that it uses BOTH Hill and Mountain!

Whew! I feel like I should go buy a lottery ticket!

The song comes from Bon Jovi’s second album 7800 Fahrenheit. The album's title was a reference to the supposed melting point of rock, equivalent to 4313° Celsius; as the Fahrenheit scale is mainly used only in the United States, 7800° Fahrenheit thus suggested "American hot rock."

The song was written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.

Despite being a fan favorite, the band was unsatisfied with the sound of the album and essentially disowned it once they had solidified their status as worldwide superstars with their third and fourth albums.

Jon Bon Jovi said this about the album:

"All of us were going through tough times on a personal level, and the strain told on the music we produced. It wasn't a pleasant experience… Lance Quinn wasn't the man for us, and that added to the feeling that we were going about it badly. None of us want to live in that mental state ever again. We've put the record behind us, and moved on."

Okay, so Bon Jovi wasn’t pleased with the album. But I think you’ll enjoy this song that came from that album.

The Lyrics:

  2. This is definitely a new Bon Jovi song for me, yet the instrumental of it sounds so familiar. I might have to research to see if this was used with different lyrics by someone else, because I feel like I should know it. LOL

    Great pick! :)

  6. I don't know what to think when a band or performer says they don't like something they did that was nevertheless a hit with the fans. It's almost like they're telling the fans that they have no taste. Good choice for the topic, though.
