#4M : Occupations, Part II

It’s Free choice week again for Monday’s Music Moves Me! If you recall from the last Free Choice week - I went with a theme of Occupations, but I had so many songs that I needed to split up the post. This here is part 2 of the theme.  Will there be a part 3? Read on...

A few weeks ago for Song Lyric Sunday, Jim over at A Unique Title For Me gave us the theme of ‘Occupation’.  My brain went a little crazy and went all sorts of directions before I finally settled on the song that I chose for that theme.  Note: I’m going to try to not re-use songs that were used in Song Lyric Sunday.  You can listen to Part 1 of this theme HERE if you’d like to revisit.

  • The Carpenters - Please Mr Postman
  • The Beatles - Paperback Writer
  • Thompson Twins - Doctor Doctor
  • Monty Python - The Lumberjack Song
  • Eric Clapton - I Shot The Sheriff
  • Dusty Springfield - Son Of A Preacher Man
  • J Geils Band - Centerfold
  • Smokey Robinson - Tears of a Clown
  • Moody Blues - I'm just A Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)
  • John Fogerty - Centerfield

I’ll be posting Part III (the final part of this theme) in another 2 weeks. Be sure to come back then for the finale.

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this bloghop.

  1. Mary,

I enjoyed listening to your them song choices with occupation in the title. The group Thompson Twins doesn't ring a better. Their new-to-me song 'Doctor Doctor' peaked #18 in 1984. I do remember their song 'Hold Me Now' but that's only because I looked TT's top songs up and this is their only #1 hit I knew. 'I Shot the Sheriff' reminices of days as a girl from the summer before her 13th birthday. I love Smokey Robinson's smooth vocals! My niece met him a few years ago and said he was super nice. The Moody Blues is a group that I totally lost over the years in my mind. I'm so glad for the reintroduction in recent years. Thanks for great dance mewsic. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

    1. Cathy, I had so much fun with this theme. I'm going to be a little bit sad when it wraps up after part 3. Going to keep my comment short - as I have about 200 emails to sort through. ugh Mondays!

    1. Thanks Patrick! I'm glad that you enjoyed this. I like doing the setlists as they are challenging and fun. I've got some fun in store for the AtoZ challenge coming up. I hope to see you in my comments there :)

  3. This was a fun theme, wasn't it? Any list with the Moody Blues is a great list and I"m Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band" is one of the fun ones. The J. Geils song always made me laugh, for some reason. Oh, the shock! The shock! (I guess being a centerfold is an occupation!)
