#RMF2019 #4M Boston

Today Monday’s Music Moves Me (#4M) joins hands together with #RocktoberMusicFest2019. We have a ‘Free Choice’ week this week, so it will be #RMF2019 as usual :)  Today, I’m sharing music from those rockers from Boston, ironically named Boston.

Wikipedia tells us this about Boston:
Boston is an American rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, which had its most notable successes during the 1970s and 1980s. Centered on multi-instrumentalist founder and leader Tom Scholz, who played the majority of instruments on the debut album, the band is a staple of classic rock radio playlists. Boston's best-known works include the songs "More Than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", "Foreplay/Long Time", "Rock and Roll Band", "Smokin'", "Don't Look Back", "A Man I'll Never Be", and "Amanda". The band has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, including 31 million albums in the United States, of which 17 million were from its self-titled debut album and seven million were for its second album, Don't Look Back, making the group one of the world's best-selling artists. Altogether, the band has released six studio albums over a career spanning over 40 years. Boston was ranked the 63rd best hard rock artist by VH1.

I have seen Boston in concert, and they do a GREAT show!

    1. Headed to the dawg house now...

      But in my defense.....

Chicago has too many good ones to choose from! (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

Again... if *YOU* would like to do a post about them... *YOU* are more than welcome to :)

Please don't tell 'The Judge'. I promise to send Freeze-Dried Bourbon Ice Cream to make up for it (that's if I can ever find any in the store!)

    2. Yeah, Chicago sure does have a lot of great songs. I was a fan from way back and early on. In fact, the first three LPs I ever bought for myself, I purchased all at the same time - 3 Greatest Hits or Best Of albums, one each by Chicago, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles.

Can you remember what was the first LP you ever bought for yourself? Hmmm? Well, can ya?

  2. Mary,

You listed 'More Than A Feeling' as selection number one but it doesn't show on your playlist. That's a good song and it might be my favorite but you shared some great Boston hits in this set. I have to agree with your response to Stephen. Chicago has way too many excellent songs to pick only 10 songs. Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. Have a boogietastic week and thanks for hosting RMF, my friend!

  5. I consider myself a Boston fan, but some of these were new to me - so thanks for the introduction!

I stuck with a spooky theme for my RMF selection today - you can see mine here. Have a great day!

  6. A great band. I remember listening to them back in the day. From what I understand is that they are like all MIT grads.

  7. Looks like you have a couple of spam comments on here :( I like Boston and even though we named our daughter Amanda, I forget about them sometimes. We saw them a few years ago at the Mountain Winery and really enjoyed them.

    1. Of course, I would get the spam comments when I'm sick in bed. Hopefully got them all cleaned out now.

  8. First of all, I'm just going to say, "YOU HAVE ROCKED THE HOUSE"! Love, love, love the tunes you have chosen for today! Boston is just phenomenal. "Oh what a feeling just went down in Rock & Roll history", actually they all have let's face it! "Peace of Mind", has to be my favorite one Boston has ever done, but I could probably pull a couple other favorites of there's! haha Like "Foreplay-Long Time"! GIRL you have totally ROCKED THE HOUSE today for sure!!!! Great job! Oh, and "Let me take you Home" is a favorite of mine for sure! HAVE A GREAT DAY!

  9. Every Mother’s Son, “Come On Down To My Boat Baby”

First of all, great Boston playlist. Second, when I'm doing a Chicago playlist I usually hold it to the first eleven albums, when Terry Kath was still alive. Doesn't make it much easier, but those are the only albums worth talking about...

    1. That's a pretty good idea, although I do have a fondness for Peter Cetera as well.. He's a really nice guy, from what my friends tell me (and a pretty darned good short-stop, too!)

  10. From the first time I heard Boston, it was love. I bought their first album (vinyl). Husband bought their greatest hits album at a library booksale in Ithaca, New York yesterday. My favorite, despite loving every song on their first album, is "Don't Look Back".

    1. I saw them in concert in 2001/2002? somewhere around there. I had nosebleed seats, so not sure if it was the secondhand smoke talking, but it was a pretty good concert.

  11. I Love Boston, so naturally I love your song choice! ;) Funny story - when my brother and his now-wife were dating, we were playing Trivial Pursuit - any question that referenced a band, her answer was *always* Boston! It was so funny, especially when the question was actually about Boston, and she picked a different band... we joke about that to this day. :)
