#RMF2019: CCR

Day 10 of #RocktoberMusicFest2019

I waffled back and forth trying to decide which band I wanted to use for today’s post. I eventually settled on this one.  Even though I waffled, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Wikipedia tells us this about Creedence Clearwater Revival:
Creedence Clearwater Revival was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s which consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; bassist Stu Cook; and drummer Doug Clifford. These members had played together since 1959, first as The Blue Velvets and later as The Golliwogs. Their musical style encompassed roots rock, swamp rock, and blues rock. They played in a Southern rock style, despite their San Francisco Bay Area origin, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River, and other popular elements of Southern United States iconography, as well as political and socially conscious lyrics about topics including the Vietnam War. The band performed at the 1969 Woodstock Festival in Upstate New York.

CCR reminds me of my oldest brother, Dave. I sure do miss him!

Here are 10 of their songs:

  1. Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
  2. Fortunate Son
  3. Green River
  4. I Put A Spell On You
  5. Lookin Out My Back Door
  6. Born On The Bayou
  7. Jambalaya
  8. Suzie Q
  9. Bad Moon Rising
  10. Run Through The Jungle

Do you have a favorite CCR tune?  Have you seen them or John Fogerty in concert?

I’d love for you to join me in celebrating Rock Music this month. All you need to do is drop the link to your current Rock Music post in the comments. Be sure to code with html so the link is clickable.  (See the announcement post for instructions on that) And then visit everyone that has left their links.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for more #RMF2019 fun!

I was actually introduced to Creedence Clearwater Revival by my Ma (if you can believe that!) She loved really soulful music - lots of R&B that one could dance to (like The Bill Black Combo), as well as deep, Bluesy stuffs such as B.B. King's 'The Thrill Is Gone' and Cannonball Adderley's 'Mercy, Mercy, Mercy'.

Ma owned the CCR album 'Cosmo's Factory', which she played pretty often when I was still quite young. And that's how I first came to hear CCR.

    >>... "Do you have a favorite CCR tune?"

    Abbalouly!! :

I also think that John Fogerty's video for his "solo" song [Link> 'THE OLD MAN DOWN THE ROAD' is probably my all-time favorite music video. MTV played it constantly... back when MTV played Music Videos.

Color me tardy for the party! Sorry about 'dat. Had a rough night trying to catch me some winks and the sandman wasn't playin' very nice. Got up and set up my workload for the day, and then struggled to keep my eyes open. Thought to myself "Self, just take a moment and put your feet up for an hour"..... About 4 hours later I woke up from my nap in my recliner. I did feel quite refreshed. But now I've been busy hustlin' to get everything done.

The Old Man Down The Road is a great song. Really like it alot.

Gonna be stopping by your Van Morrison post here in a bit (Yup, I stole a sneak peak earlier... but was too tired to do anything about it).

    1. Hey Cathy!

Sorry to hear that Safari isn't playing nice with the comments. I have heard that some people can only use chrome. I sure hope it doesn't come to that! As I was mentioning to Stephen, I'm running a bit late, but I will definitely be stopping by your post soon!

  5. CCR is another favourite band! Thanks for the showcasing them today, Mary. I like all of their songs, but if I had to narrow it down, Long As I Can See The LIght is right up there.

P.S. Queen + Adam Lambert is going live at 12:01 am EDT.

  6. Dion, “Runaround Sue”

Creedence was a veritable hit machine, and they could stretch out and jam with the best of them. Great choice!

    1. I could listen to them all day long... of course, with them reminding me of my brother, there may be a tear or two shed.

  7. Nice list, Mary! CCR is another one of those groups that I don't think too much of until I see their songs. I've got Lindsey Buckingham today.
