#BattleOfTheBands Results

Whew!  Let me just tell you, this battle was just a little bit crazy!

I was a little confused because the number of votes was rather low. And you know, much like Stephen, I had decided that if the total votes were in the single digits I’d call it a day and never bother with another Battle of the Bands post again.

Except, I have a particular battle in my mind that I really want to do next. I reached out to my friends Once… Twice… no response.  I was sure getting ready to slice and dice the friends list and start removing these SOBs that couldn’t be bothered to support my efforts.

But then… late Friday evening (early Saturday Morning) I decided to tag those of my friends that I knew were music lovers. And then I went to bed.  I woke up to a few more comments, but I was still in the single digits..

Then a really cool thing happened. It turns out that not everyone’s comments are actually getting posted. Hey Blogger - WHAT THE HECK is that all about?  The comments weren’t in the spam folder or waiting to be moderated.  So my buddy Brian started hitting up our mutual friends (and some I have no idea who they are) and had them listen to the contestants. He then texted me everyone’s votes.  Before I knew it, the number of votes had literally doubled! Brian saved the day (and a few friendships!)

I think going forward I need to make a notation on my posts in Facebook and elsewhere, that if you are having trouble posting your comment - to comment on the Facebook post or message me or email me, or even txt/call me and I’ll make sure your vote gets counted.

So how did this battle play out?  Let’s find out:

Votes for Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa: 9
Votes for Playing For Change: 8

It really was a bit of a tight race… and at one point, the votes were tied. Congratulations to Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa for pulling ahead at the last minute.  And a HUGE thank you to everyone that sent in a vote.

Here’s our winner singing us out. Grab your favorite beverage and enjoy!

The next battle will be July 1, but don’t forget to stop by the other new features on the blog. I’ve got Sunday Sounds, Monday’s Music Moves Me, Two Step Tuesday, YouTube Roulette, Under The Influence, and a few others going on.

  1. I've been taking FB votes for a while. I think some people just have a problem figuring out how to comment on a blog and don't want to mess with it. I've had old friends and family members who have said they'll read my blog but don't know how to comment and they've been saying that for years. Hope you don't stop doing the Battles as I enjoy the ones you do.

This one had a great outcome and I was glad to see that my vote landed on the winning team.

    Good Battle!

    1. Hi Lee

I've just been chalking it up to people not knowing how to leave a comment, but the last vote was from Michele @ Angels Bark. She wrote up her comment, but it just wouldn't stick for some reason. I'm wondering if these latest changes with Blogger have something to do with it.

  3. Really great Battle, MARY! (Even if the artist I boted for didn't win it.)

So, now, where the heck is your July 1st Battle?

The last time I checked, it was July 1st.

It's July 1st. Do you know where YOUR children are?!

    Here's where my children are:

    1. Hey there McStephen!

I've had a really crazy schedule the past few weeks. I was all set to be discharged by the wound care docs on the 12th. Instead, I developed a nasty abcess on the top of my foot and the outside of my ankle and heel. The doc sent me to the ER as that was the quickest way to get an xray on a Friday afternoon. While I was there, they gave me an IV Infusion and I had to do infusions and wound care every single day for 2 weeks. My cousin picked me up from the ER and insisted that I stay with her those 2 weeks. The abscesses were assessed and it was determined that it was MRSA. The infusions cost $1K each day. Finally this past Friday, I was taken off of the infusions. I had surgery on my foot - the doc cleaned out the wounds. Now I get to see the wound care doc 3 times a week and on an oral antibiotic. The doc is trying to get me approved for wound vac care, and if that happens, I'm trying to get that set up where I can have home health come in twice a week for dressing changes and 1 visit to the doc a week. Needless to say, all of these treatments have taken a toll on my body. Factoring in that I've been away from my computer for 2 weeks, I ran out of pre-written posts. I actually started to put together a battle last night, but I needed to put my foot up for a few hours, and then today, I spend the bulk of my day going to wound care (45 minutes each direction, plus the length of the appointment)- I'm drowning email, doing my best to get caught up as quickly as I can. Unfortunately, at the last minute, I made an executive decision to nix the July 1 battle with hopes that I will post on July 15 or Aug 1 (haven't quite decided yet). I will tell you WHO my contenders will be though (unless I change my mind yet again) and that is Daniel Castro and Gary Moore. Am hoping to have a few spare minutes before the 6th to get around to everyone and cast a vote.

That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

I love comments! Did you know that comments that are less than 8 words long are considered spam? So, don't hold back! Spill yer guts. Let me know you stopped by and let me know what you liked about the post, or what you didn't like. If you are a blogger, be sure to include a link to your blog, so that I can easily reciprocate.
