#4M: 1970 - A Decade of Rock

Our guest musical conductor this month is Me! I get to choose our themes this month. All month long, Jingle Jangle Jungle celebrates Rocktober. You can follow the posts labeled #RMF2020, and you can also join in the celebration if you’d like. There’s more detail about the celebration here.

Today, in honor of Rocktober, I’ve made a simple challenge to the group of Monday’s Music Moves Me participants to choose a decade and build a playlist of rock music from that decade.

I know. This isn’t going to come as a huge surprise to anyone. The decade I have chosen is 1970.

Well, alrighty then… Let’s get to it!

Please enjoy this week’s playlist:

  • 1970 - Rare Earth - Get Ready
  • 1971 - Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar
  • 1972 - The Hollies - Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress
  • 1973 - Dr John - Right Place, Wrong Time
  • 1974 - Redbone - Come And Get Your Love
  • 1975 - Grand Funk Railroad - Some Kind of Wonderful
  • 1976 - Wild Cherry - Play The Funky Music
  • 1977 - Manfred Mann - Blinded By The Light
  • 1978 - Eric Clapton - Lay Down Sally
  • 1979 - The Knack - My Sharona

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this blog hop.

  1. We picked the same decade - but all different songs. Blinded by the Light and My Sharona are my favorites of your playlist.

  5. Great playlist, Mary! I really liked "Play that Funky Music", "Blinded by the Light", and "My Sharona". "My Sharona" is perhaps my favorite song by a two-hit wonder ("Good Girls Don't" was a minor hit by The Knack). And a couple days ago, when we got into the truck, "Play that Funky Music" was playing, and two of my teenagers started singing along! I was like, How do they know this song?

  6. Amazing: we both did the same decade and only matched on one song. Good picks for today!

  7. Great playlist, Mary! Most of those I'm not familiar with, so I enjoyed the introduction. Three I did know, Brown Sugar, Play The Funky Music, and Blinded By The Light are favorites from that era. :) Thanks for the rockin' dance, and thanks for being an awesome co-host and providing a great theme! :)
