Out Of The Ordinary

This month, Robin gets to choose our themes.

Today is our Free Choice week. I decided we need to do something ‘Out of the Ordinary’ today.  You know.. Just to keep you all guessing as to what I’m going to post next :)

Bardcore or tavernwave is an internet phenomenon that became popular in 2020 consisting of medieval inspired remakes of hit pop and rock songs.

Today’s Bardcore songs are:

  1. Smells Like Teen Spirit

  2. House Of The Rising Sun

  3. Jolene

  4. Toxicity

  5. Nothing Else Matters

What are your thoughts on Bardcore?  Had you heard of it before?

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this blog hop.

  1. Mary,

Bardcore definitely is an unusual band. I wasn't familiar with the first song and I can't say it did a lot for me. "House of the Rising Sun" I recognize right away. The last three songs in this set, I really enjoyed quite a bit. They reminded me a lot of Celtic music. Of these, "Jolene" is the only I knew by name. Maybe I know the other two as well but the sound is different which might be playing tricks with my brain. Great job on bringing something totally different to the dance this morning, my friend. Thanks for joining the 4M gang. Have a boogietastic week! ;)

  3. Like others, I have never heard of Bardcore. While House of the Rising Sun and Jolene are the most familiar to me, I don't think I will be downloading any Bardcore in the near future. Have a blessed day.

  4. I had never heard of Bardcore. I do know all five of the songs, so it was interesting hearing how people tried to bend them into totally different musical genres. I think the last three were the most successful, especially the last two. It's novel, but I wouldn't listen to it for too long. I wonder, though, if my sister in law, who is big into steampunk (OK, something totally different), knows of bardcore.
