Totally Awesome 80's - G #AtoZChallenge

#AtoZChallenge 2021 banner

Welcome back to the Totally Awesome 80’s!

A time when our clothes were bright and vivid (nobody had to tell us to NOT eat the laundry soap!). A time before cell phones,  and it was the very beginning of a time of personal computers. We had some unforgettable tunes, and that is what we’re focusing on today!

So, put down your Rubiks Cubes, grab your RayBans, and let’s dance!

#AtoZChallenge 2021 April Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter G

Today’s Playlist

NOTE: If I couldn't find a video for the specific letter that fits the year, I went with a random video from that year.

  2. 1981 - Games People Play - Alan Parsons Project
  3. 1982 - Get Down On It - Kool & The Gang
  4. 1983 - Goody Two Shoes - Adam Ant
  5. 1984 - Ghostbusters - Ray Parker, Jr
  6. 1985 - Glory Days - Bruce Springsteen
  7. 1986 - Glory of Love - Peter Cetera
  8. 1987 - Head To Toe - Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam
  9. 1988 - Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car - Billy Ocean
  10. 1989 - Good Thing - Fine Young Cannibals

ps.. I would typically do a 'Throwback Thursday' post today, but as the entire month is a throwback, I've decided to skip today's normal post. I do hope that you will join me on Thursdays in the following months for a Throwback Thursday blog hop. The only rules for the blog hop is that your featured music be at least 10 years old.

Come back tomorrow to see what ‘H’ songs are reppin’ the 80s!

  1. Mary,

You don't have to ask me to put down the Rubik's cube. I never could work that thing. We still have one of those, can you believe it? :) I'm lovin' your year by year 80s playlist each day giving me that extra pep needed to get several tasks done. Great music and good times!

Whenever it's convenient, I hope y'all will stop in today for a peek at my Looney Tunes' Granny art sketch. Happy A2Zing!!

  2. I am truly enjoying this and am sending a link to my friend who loved the 80s music. He doesn't have a blog but he told me he is enjoying this. He has been listening to all his record albums from A to Z and is about half way through. I had to chuckle at the German dude introducing Ray Parker who is obviously lip synching. One always did that back then. I had to dance to Adam Ant's Goody Two Shoes. I read about the Rubik's cube..I was successful in cracking that. I took off the colours and reapplied them:)

  3. I was spurred on by the 1987 entry to find a satisfactory "G" candidate of my own. Here's some of what I found (We'll not talk about the rap single "Go See the doctor" *shivers*):

Give Me All Night - Carly Simon
Get That Love - Thompson Twins
Give to Live - Sammy Haggar
Girls, Girls, Girls - Motley Crue
My personal winner: Good Times - INXS

Thanks for a great morning playlist and a fun musical side quest!

  5. My son got big into Rubiks Cubes back when he was a teen (he's in his early 30's now). So right now I don't have one in the house but I will say, I didn't know three songs in this playlist. One was the Fine Young Cannibals song and that video was so much fun to watch. So thank you!

  6. I know all these tunes. Alan Parsons Project was (still is) one of my favorite groups.

I've played around with Rubik's Cubes but I don't ever recall owning one. I don't even think I ever got one for any of my kids. Poor deprived children.

  9. Picked ten winners again! You're good at this!

My survey today was a throwback to 1953, so I just used that...

  10. I remember these all quite well. My favorite would be Glory Days by Bruce which is ironic as the 80s were glory days for me although fortunately not the only ones. Weekends In Maine
