Weekly Song Challenge, Week 39

Time for the Weekly Song Challenge!

How it works:
Each week, I will provide a list of 3 topics or themes.

You come up with 1 song for each of the 3 themes.

This Week’s Song Challenge (Week 39):

A Song with Please in the Title - New Kids On The Block - Please Don’t Go Girl

A Protest Song - Marvin Gaye - What’s Going On?

A Song with Fall in the Title - George Strait - Chill of An Early Fall

What songs would you choose for these themes?

Now, I know several of you like to plan ahead, so I’ve got a page prepared where you can find the upcoming themes..

  1. Mary,

I'm not too familiar with NKOTB. "Please Don't Go Girl" is new to my ears. The song came out April 1988. I was very prego with DD#1. The song hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart rising from #62 to its final peak position at #10, but I sure don't recall it. Marvin Gaye what a voice! "What's Going On" was inspired by a police brutality incident. Wiki says Gaye was one of the songwriters. Bad people will be bad people but we don't need bad people in uniform, wearing a badge, and carrying a gun. That being said, sometimes bad people have to be handled rough sometimes because bad people will turn on you know matter your position or walk in life. Not all cops are bad, just like not all people are bad. All it takes is a few bad apples as the saying goes to spoil the whole bunch. Great song! George Strait, the King of Country, says Wiki. I'm not a huge country fan but there's probably not a person in our age group who hasn't heard of the fella. I'm not at all familiar with this song title. Wiki reports he had 11 consecutive #1 hits beginning in 1986 with "Nobody In His Right Mind Would've Have Left Her" another song I do not know. I also learned that his 13 year old daughter was killed in an alcohol related auto accident that same year. How sadly tragic! Thanks for hosting and sharing your song picks, my friend. Have a wonderfully Wild Wednesday!

  2. I don't care much for the first song plus I never heard of it. I do like the next song which is perfect for this week. I don't care much for country but I do know this song as it was a big hit. Funny, I had a song all lined up for Fall but it had the word "Autumn" in the title so I had to change things up.
