Call Me! Battle: Glenn Miller vs Wilson Pickett

Welcome back to the Call Me! Battles….

Last month we took a little break to celebrate Mr Tiny Tim, but we are back with our ongoing battles using songs that have phone numbers in the song.

To recap the battles so far:

October:

The Marvelettes took on Brenda Lee, and The Marvelettes won that battle.

November:

The Marvelettes took on Glenn Miller. It was a tight race, but Glenn Miller took the win!

December:

Glenn Miller took on  Tom Waits and maintained his hold in first place.

Here we are in February and we have Glenn Miller taking on a new contender.

So let’s get right to it!

Glenn Miller

Wilson Pickett

Will Glenn Miller hold his title for another month or will we have a new title holder?

In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:

  1. Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me. Keep an open mind and don’t be persuaded by the artist name.

  2. Pick the contender that you prefer the most

  3. Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.

  4. Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out.

    1. Stephen McCarthy

    2. Tossing It Out

    3. Mike’s Ramblings

    4. The Sound of One Hand Typing

    5. Curious As A Cathy

    6. dIEDRE’s Stream Pebbles

Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments! Voting Results will be posted on the 8th of this month.

  1. Mary,

How are you doing? I hope you more good days than bad. 😘 You made my decision making difficult with today's battle. I like both artists and songs but I think I'm going to go with Wilson Pickett. My BOTB is up anytime you want to stop by to vote. ;) Have a bandtastic day!

  3. Wilson Pickett hearkens back to my high school days when he was on the airwaves quite often. His song is a good one, but still Glenn Miller rules in this match as far as I'm concerned.

    Give my vote to Glenn.

  6. Dear MMQE ~

You got-um a goot contest here. (I'm missing Tiny Tim, though. I need to find a Tiny Tim phone number song for you.)

For me, it was easy -- I'm probably going to vote for GLENN MILLER every single time... even after someone finally knocks him out of this competition.

For my brother, Judge Al Bondigas, this was a much tougher decision. In fact, he asked me to replay the Wilson Pickett song a second time because he thought he might be "boting" for that one. But, alas (for Wilson), at the end of this court case, the Judge also ruled in favor of Glenn Miller.

So, you can add TWO MORE (II) "botes" in the MILLER column.

OK, now I'm off to find a Tiny Tim phone # song that I can Email to ya. (Fingers crossed!)
