Song of the Day

Welcome to this new feature on my blog! Before anyone says that I have stolen this idea from John -

A couple of years ago, I invited others to join me for Rocktoberfest. John had joined in and he had such a good time, that he extended his into a Song a Day feature on his blog.  I have been feeling as though I’ve neglected this blog during my recent cancer treatments. Now that I’m feeling a bit better, I reached out to John and asked for his blessing on bringing this feature to my blog. One might say it’s come full circle now.

Today our song is: I’ll Never Smile Again by Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra featuring Frank Sinatra with The Pied Pipers

Wikipedia tells us this about the song:

"I'll Never Smile Again" is a 1939 song written by Ruth Lowe. It has been recorded by many other artists since, becoming a standard.

The most successful and best-known million selling single version of the song was recorded by Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra, with vocals provided by Frank Sinatra and The Pied Pipers. This recording was released as a Victor 78, 26628A, in 1940. This version was number one on Billboard's first "National List of Best Selling Retail Records"—the first official national music chart—on July 27, 1940, staying at the top spot for 12 weeks until October 12, 1940. The tune was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1982.

Enjoy!
