Music & Words Award #MWA

Recently, I was nominated for Music & Words Award by fellow blogger, Miss Andi.

Miss Andi said I didn't need to accept the award if I didn't want to, as it came with a tiny challenge. The challenge sounded fun, so here I am sharing this with you.

The Music & Words Award was created by blogger, Miss Andi, to acknowledge and link people who love music so much that they blog about it. She gives out 5 awards each Friday. The purpose is to feature great music blogs from all over the world and artists from all genres.

Once the award is accepted, there are five steps:
  1. Link back to the person who nominated you
  2. Answer the questions with words AND music
  3. Pass the award on to 5 bloggers who inspire you with their posts about music
  4. Tag your post with #MWA, for Music&Words Award so that we can all find you down the line
  5. Quote these 5 steps and the award icon in your post. You can display the icon on your sidebar as well.

Q&A

Q1: What does music mean to you?
Music is life, Music is emotion. I often use music to express my emotions. That's one of the reasons I enjoy a large cross-section of genres. Each one reflects a type of emotion.Whether it be happiness, sadness, love, or anger, it can all be conveyed with music.

Q2: What is your first music-related memory?
Hmmm. I would have to say my first music related memory goes back to when I was about 4 or 5 years old. My dad used to let me walk to work with him in the mornings. During this time, he taught me how to whistle tunes. My dad loved music. He had a great fondness for cowboy songs (pre-country & western). Whenever we went on road trips, my dad always hummed or sang.

Q3: What was the first album you’ve purchased yourself?
Before I answer this, I have to say that being the youngest of six kids, I had a lot of musical influence in my life. My dad was fond of cowboy songs, my mother let us watch musical variety shows such as Lawrence Welk, Donny & Marie, Sonny & Cher. My sister enjoyed The Carpenters, The Monkees, and Donny Osmond, while my brothers musical tastes ranged from Iron Butterfly, Donovan, Jethro Tull, Led Zepplin, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nazareth, and Black Sabbath. In my younger years I was into music with humor such as Spike Jones. But my first official album that I purchased with my own money was CW McCall's Greatest Hits.

Q4: What was the latest music you purchased? (No online streaming or free downloads, I’m talking about cash here!)
Lately, I've done a lot of online streaming, so I had to really think hard as to what my last actual music purchase was. If memory serves me correct, it would be Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

Q5: Which song did you listen to last? (No cheating, come out with the dirty pleasures!)
This is another hard one to answer, as I'm always listening to something. I am currently working on my posts for the A to Z Challenge, as well as other posts. Aside from the songs posted here in this post,  the very last song I listened to is this one:
