#BOTB Travelin' Band

Image
Time for the next round of Battle of the Bands! Here’s how it works: I’ll be posting two versions of the same song and after you give a listen to each, place your vote for your favorite and reason for the way you voted in the comments section. The Battles take place on or around the 1st and 15th of each month, and the results will be posted on or around the 7th and 21st. As I only post Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, the posting date will be closest to those dates as possible. The other blogs participating in the Battle of the Bands are posting different battles (different songs), So once you’re done voting and commenting on my battle, take a moment to visit the other participants and vote & comment on their battles.  There are some really good battles going on!

#FridayFive Butch Vig

I’m told that I should introduce myself. Hi, I’m Joseph, the “Partner in Crime.” I’m also the one who mostly wrote the Midnight Special post back in September (and my favorite E.L.O. song is Turn To Stone,) as well as the Six Degrees Of 90s Rock. Here I am again, with another Friday Five.

Six Degrees of Separation 90s Alternative Rock

By now, I'm sure that many of you have heard of the Six Degrees of Separation. Most people automatically think of the Six Degrees of Separation of Kevin Bacon. My partner in crime wanted to put together a Six Degrees related to music. If this works out well, we may do other posts similar to this one.

#Rocktober - Talisman

Image
It's only natural to talk about this next rock band after recently talking about Yngwie Malmsteen. Talisman were a Swedish hard rock band characterized by an international melodic/powerful sound.

#Rocktober - Yngwie Malmsteen

Image
At the age of ten Malmsteen created his first band, "Track on Earth", consisting of himself and a friend from school playing the drums. At the age of twelve he took his mother's maiden name Malmsten as his surname, then slightly changed it to Malmsteen and altered his third given name Yngve to "Yngwie." As a teenager he was heavily influenced by classical music, particularly 19th century violinist composer Niccolò Paganini, and also discovered his most important guitar influence, Ritchie Blackmore. Uli Jon Roth and Brian May are also significant influences.
