In 1992, Doug "SA" Martinez joined to sing and provide turntables for 311's later albums, rounding out the current line-up. The band's name originates from the police code for indecent exposure in Omaha, Nebraska, after the original guitarist for the band was arrested for streaking.

#FridayFive - Misheard Lyrics

Image
Some time ago, I wrote a post about ELO and in that post, there was a mention of ELO's song "Don't Bring Me Down" and the often misheard lyric in that song. There was a bit of a discussion among friends and I knew then I wanted to do a piece about misheard lyrics. With the Friday Five, I am happy to finally bring you a small number of songs that have misheard lyrics.

The Results are IN!  Here’s how it works: I’ll be posting two versions of the same song and after you give a listen to each, place your vote for your favorite and reason for the way you voted in the comments section. The Battles take place on or around the 1st and 15th of each month, and the results will be posted on or around the 7th and 21st. As I only post Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, the posting date will be closest to those dates as possible. The other blogs participating in the Battle of the Bands are posting different battles (different songs), So once you’re done voting and commenting on my battle, take a moment to visit the other participants and vote & comment on their battles.  There are some really good battles going on!

The other day a friend and I were talking about novelty songs. Most people automatically think of Weird Al when it comes to novelty and parody, but there were a few that were popular long before he became popular.

It's time for a confession. I'm struggling with some stupid life drama right now, and as a result, I haven't prepared my posts in advance like I usually do. So, I'm borrowing an idea from a blogging friend that I like, and going to attempt to try something new around here. I'd like to thank John from The Sound of One Hand Typing for the inspiration. Each Friday, I will bring you 5 videos. These 5 videos will either be themed, or of a specific artist. I hope that you enjoy this new feature on the blog.
