"Blank Space" is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from her fifth studio album 1989. It was written by Taylor Swift, Max Martin and Shellback. The song was released to the radio by Republic Records on November 10, 2014 as the album's second single, after "Shake It Off" and is the second track on the album. Musically, "Blank Space" is an electropop and minimal song with lyrics that satirize the media's perception of Swift and her relationships.

"Blank Space" was a critical and commercial success, having reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 following "Shake It Off". Swift became the first woman in the Hot 100's 56-year history to succeed herself at the top spot. The song has also topped charts in Canada, South Africa and Australia. It was included in several critic's year-end lists and was the second and the sixth best song according to Time and Rolling Stone. In January 2015, "Blank Space" was ranked at number three on The Village Voice 's annual year-end Pazz & Jop critics' poll, one rank before "Shake It Off".

The song has also gained attention from post-hardcore band, I Prevail.

I Prevail is an unsigned American Post-Hardcore band from Detroit, Michigan. They independently released their debut EP "Heart vs. Mind" in December of 2014. http://www.jinglejanglejungle.net/2015/02/covered-blank-space.html #TaylorSwift #IPrevail
I Prevail is an unsigned American Post-Hardcore band from Detroit, Michigan. They independently released their debut EP "Heart vs. Mind" in December of 2014, which received rave reviews and quickly rose to #1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart where it remained for over a week, as well as hitting #2 on the Google Play Rock Album Chart. The band also released a cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" which hit #1 on the iTunes Rock Singles Chart, where it stayed for 7 consecutive days. The cover garnered over 2 million views in just over a month on YouTube. The band has big plans in store for 2015 as they continue their explosive burst on to the scene.

Now, if you recall, Taylor is country musician gone pop. Be sure to pay attention to what happens around 4:11 on the I Prevail cover.  Made me smile out loud.
