Song Lyric Sunday: Fear

Time for Song Lyric Sunday!  This is the third time participating, and I’m really liking this.

The Idea was formed by Helen @ This Thing Called Life One Word At A Time. She has presented us with the word prompt of FEAR for this week.

I immediately thought of (Don’t Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult, but then I decided to go a little bit deeper and think a little bit more outside of the box.  In Helen’s announcement post, she mentioned that she and her husband enjoy watching Horror flicks.  Me - not so much. They are a source of nightmares for me (even though I did go out with a guy once who played the lead role in a Horror movie) But ACTING and REALITY are two different things.

And when I think of Acting and Nightmares, I think of Alice Cooper.  He puts on an amazing performance, but in reality is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

Wikipedia tells us this about the song:

"Welcome to My Nightmare" is the title track to Alice Cooper's eighth studio album. The song is written by Cooper, Dick Wagner and Bob Ezrin. It peaked at 45 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song itself mixes elements from disco, jazz, hard rock, and keeps a "heavy-yet-funky beat". Cooper would later perform the song on The Muppet Show. The tune was placed tenth on a list AOL Radio made of the "10 Best Halloween Songs".
Acoustic guitar is played by Dick Wagner, bass by Tony Levin, clarinet by Jozef Chirowski, drums by Johnny "Bee" Badanjek, and electric guitar by Steve Hunter.

"Welcome to My Nightmare"

Welcome to my nightmare
I think you're gonna like it
I think you're gonna feel like you belong
A nocturnal vacation
Unnecessary sedation
You want to feel at home 'cause you belong

Welcome to my nightmare
Welcome to my breakdown
I hope I didn't scare you
That's just the way we are when we come down
We sweat and laugh and scream here
'cause life is just a dream here
You know inside you feel right at home here

Welcome to my breakdown
Whoa
You're welcome to my nightmare
Yeah

Welcome to my nightmare
I think you're gonna like it
I think you're gonna feel that you belong
We sweat laugh and scream here
'Cause life is just a dream here
You know inside you feel right at home here
Welcome to my nightmare
Welcome to my breakdown
Yeah

  1. I love it! Alice Cooper and the Muppets! What a match! And you're right about him--one of the nicest guys around. He lives nearby, in Phoenix, and I've heard him several times as host of his own radio show--very engaging and articulate and entertaining. He's also an avid golfer, and has participated in a number of pro ams.

    1. Hey Arn!

I spend my nights with Alice as well :) I've heard that he loves to golf and that he used to golf all the time with Glenn Campbell. Thanks for stopping by!
