Songs For The End of Summer #4M

Monday means it’s time for #MondaysMusicMovesMe or #4M. It’s also a Holiday today in the USA. Labor Day is also the mark of the end of summer.  Students are heading back to school, fun in the sun is winding down for the year.

Since today our theme is “Free Choice”  I thought I would toss together a playlist of songs for the end of summer.

Kicking off our party is none other than my faux-husband Mr Dave Grohl. This track is basically the Foos doing their best version of Eagles-esque classic rock. Although most people fight against the end of summer, here Dave Grohl welcomes it. Instead of basking in the sunshine, he is looking for winter and praying for summer’s end.

Next, we’ll bring in Weezer. Here lead singer Rivers Cuomo promises “we will meet again”. This is a bonus track from 2016’s “White Album”, and it’s a shame it was left off the record. Just like “Summer Town”, this track somehow bottles the feeling of the end of summer and puts it all into an awesome package.

Then Third Eye Blind will tell us what it feels like when it’s winter time in a summer town. It’s depressing when beaches and outdoor hot spots shut down for the year, but thankfully summer always comes back around and this song ends with a feeling of hope and optimism.

Fourth on the list is Jimmy Eats World. They bring all the feels about the end of summer with their song, “My Sundown”

And finally, we’ll wrap up this little party with The Dirty Heads singing about how their “Sweet Summer is Gone”

What are you doing to mark the end of summer? Tell me about it in the comments below.

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy, and Ramblin with AM. 1. You've wrapped up summer beautifully with your awesome playlist! :) One kid starts back to school tomorrow, the other on Wednesday - normally we are camping this weekend, but the weather wasn't being cooperative, so we decided to stay in the comfort of home and get stuff done around here instead. ;) The hubby is on his summer break until the third week of September, so the 'end of summer' won't 'feel' like it until then...heh!!

Thanks so much for the dance! Hope you have an awesome week! :)

    1. Thanks Stacy!

Everyone is so busy with their medical issues and school starting. I'm just having a regular kind of day. It doesn't feel like a holiday at all to me.

  2. I betcha if you try to find songs about the end of winter or the end of autumn you won't find much. Well, except for David Grohl, whom I respect greatly, but I respectfully disagree with him. Anyway, my favorite of the set (surprised me a little) was the last song. I'm hoping to get away for a couple of days before summer officially ends, to an area about 4 hours from here which is a major grape growing region. Meaning (sigh) concord grape pie...hope you have a good week!

    1. Thanks, Alana!

This was a fun last minute setlist. I like fall, but I can certainly do without winter. I'm not crazy about 90 degrees and hotter either. Have a great time away and enjoy that pie (it sounds delish!)
