Book Review: Sleeping Secrets

Sleeping Secrets is the sequel to Breaking News by GG Vandagriff. While Sleeping Secrets can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend that Breaking News be read first as Sleeping Secrets reflects back on the story line in Breaking News.

Sleeping Secrets picks up where Breaking News leaves us. Now that Paula James and David Van Pelt have managed to take down one of the largest methamphetamine drug rings in the United States, there is still a question about Paula’s true identity.  Paula has learned that she has been in WITSEC, and a US Marshal is coming to have a face to face with her to help her understand more of her story.  However, the US Marshal is murdered in his hotel before they have that meeting.

Instinctively, Paula and David are on the run again, knowing that her life is in danger but they are not sure why. Someone desperately does not want her to know the truth about who she is or about her childhood trauma.

Their running takes them to California, where they have arranged to meet with the US Marshal’s daughter and the FBI. While there, Paula sees a face on television that brings back some memories for her. Hoping for some answers, she reaches out to this individual. But would this be a good thing, or would it be detrimental?

While this book is listed as a Romantic Suspense, I would say that it is heavy on the suspense. The events will have you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what will happen next.

The story is very well written and I found that I did not want to put it down at all. Thankfully, it was a pretty quick read, but it was very satisfying. The characters were all well developed and you gain a sense of their personalities.

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
