#4M : Under The Influence

Welcome back to Monday’s Music Moves Me!

Our Musical Conductor this month is Michele from Angels Bark .  But today, we have been left to our own devices as it is ‘Free Choice’ week.

I had thought about doing another YouTube Roulette week, but I’m thinking I might just do that once a month - unless of course, I’m at a complete loss for something to share.

This week, I’m Under the Influence….  Of your posts.  Let me explain.

Recently, a certain duo has been finding their way into my recommended videos as well as my Facebook newsfeed.  At first, I thought perhaps they showed up because Cherdo at Cherdo on the Flipside recently had a battle of the bands that focused on harmonies. But I can’t really be certain it was her post that brought this to attention. It could have easily been one of the several other videos that I’ve watched over the past few weeks.  This is the video that popped up on my radar:

My first reaction was - HOLY SMOKES! These guys really sound great together! And then I watched the video again (a few times!!) The next thing I noticed is these two guys look alike - they MUST be brothers.  Curiosity got the best of me and I had to start digging around and watching more of their videos.  Here are a couple more:

They don’t just do covers - here is an original:

I am really digging their sound, so I had to learn more about these guys.  Turns out these two guys come from a very musical family.  They look alike because they are identical twins. They also have brother born the same date, who is a fraternal triplet to them, as well as another brother that is one year older. The four boys have been performing together since the age of 3. Their mother, Darlana, is an award winning Country musician and their father (Frank) played with a few rock bands (although - I could not find any specific information on the parents).  The boys started in the country music scene and later progressed toward the pop/rock sound.

Here are the four boys performing one of their more popular songs

And I just had to share this gem that I found in my research. Be sure to watch to the end.

It’s hard for me to imagine that they’ve been performing as a group for so long, and I am just now learning about them.

Just think, it might be a video that you share on your blog that influences my next post, so keep on sharing your great finds.

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. 1. Mary,

WOW, I must have missed Cherdo's BoTB featuring this pAwesome group! They are totally new2me, so many thanks to you for highligthing them on the 4M dance floor this morning. They harmonize beautifully. All of their covers are furtastic but I really liked their original 'Hold On To Me'. I'm curious to hear more of their original stuff. They're really good guitarists, too. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

    1. Hi Cathy!

I don't think she had these guys in her battle, it was just a battle of harmonies. I'm not even positive it was from her battle that these guys showed up from. It really could have been from anywhere - but it did make me think about her battle.

  2. My mother always used to make a big deael out of the fact that siblings sound good together. Her sisters did, Mom... not so much. But she's right. These guys sounded great together!

    1. I agree that not all siblings sound great together. I think these guys just got some good genes going for them.

    1. I must have been living under a rock at the time because I had not heard of them until now.

  4. They do sound excellent and wonky that they are identical but the other is fraternal. How cool that they have been around for so long and that their whole family is musical

  5. The Moffatts - just think, if it was 2015 (say) and not 1995 they may well have appeared on (and done quite well on) America's Got Talent. Really nice harmonies as children and adults. One of the adults has, to me, a voice with some resemblance to a middle aged Paul Simon. I had to look them up on Wikipedia. Released an EP late last year. Happy to see they are still active.

  6. Wow Mary, this is a great find! These guys have beautiful harmonies! I LOVE their video backdrops: what amazing settings! And their music is so fitting for that type of setting. I like them a lot!
And their original is excellent too.
Crazy how young they started! That was a cute video of them on Sally Jesse Raphael. A long time ago! I haven't thought of her in ages!
Wonder what the oldest brother is up to now??

thanks for sharing these very talented brothers with us!
