#4M: Summer Songs, Summer Not

Summer Songs...

And Summer Not...

Just kidding! They’re all Songs today!

Time again for Monday’s Music Moves Me (aka #4M)

Marie, who is also the main conductor of this blog hop, is in charge of picking themes for us this month.  Her choice for today’s theme is Summer Songs.

After far too long of a  winter, Summer finally came strolling in officially just a few days ago. Parts of Idaho were still getting that four-letter word ‘snow’ well into the first week of June this year.  Our overnight temperatures are still dipping down into the mid 30's (Farenheit).  I can honestly say that I am ready to welcome the warm weather - as long as it doesn’t get too warm! (Yes, I’m fickle like that!)

There are plenty of summer songs out there, and I have chosen to put together a playlist of 10 for you to enjoy.

  • Johnny Rivers - Summer Rain
  • Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now
  • Katrina & The Waves - Walking On Sunshine
  • Seals and Crofts - Summer Breeze
  • Don Henley - The Boys of Summer
  • Jerry Mungo - In The Summertime
  • Donovan - Sunshine Superman
  • Bananarama - Cruel Summer
  • Weezer - Island In The Sun
  • Len - Steal My Sunshine

Now before you run off and enjoy the sunny summer day, be sure to visit these others :)

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this bloghop

  1. Mary,

Your playlist is great fun for the summer song theme. I can't help but smile everytime I hear Jerry Mungo 'In The Summertime'. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me today. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

    1. I feel the same way about Jerry Mungo's song. There is simply no way to be grumpy with that song playing.

  6. All great choices. "Walking On Sunshine" is my all time favorite, period. :) I also like "In The Summertime." And one that didn't make your list but brings back many Michigan summer days is Kid Rock's "All Summer Long." I too am hoping it doesn't get toooooo hot here in Idaho. :)

    1. Compared to last year, it's been fairly cool so far. Last year we were teasing triple digits at this time of year. I prefer the mid 70's.

  7. Great set - so many summer songs out there and I actually knew 8 of the 10 - until I played, and I knew 9 of them. The new one was Weezer, and it was enjoyable. I hadn't heard "Steal My Sunshine" in so long I had forgotten it existed! "Walking on Sunshine" was one I would have chosen if it had been part of my childhood but it's fun now that I'm listening.

    1. I had to laugh at the 'part of my childhood' comment. I might be just short of the double nickels in age, but that doesn't mean I'm not still living my childhood. Have a great week, Alana!

  8. Big Johnny Rivers fan. Love the music of my generation. The kids these days got screwed! Surfin songs, beach songs, summer of love songs. What's not to love?
