#RMF2019: Aerosmith

Day 16 of #RocktoberMusicFest2019

Today we have another band that has been around forever, it seems. Yet, I have not seen them in concert.  Maybe now that they have taken residency in Las Vegas there is a chance for that.

Wikipedia tells us this about Aerosmith:
Aerosmith is an American rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1970. The group consists of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford. Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop rock, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues, and has inspired many subsequent rock artists. They are sometimes referred to as "the Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band".

Here are 10 of their songs:

  1. Crazy
  2. I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing
  3. Janie’s Got A Gun
  4. Sweet Emotion
  5. Dream On
  6. Walk This Way
  7. Angel
  8. Cryin’
  9. Dude (Looks Like A Lady)
  10. Living On The Edge

    1. Thanks, Robin! I do enjoy myself some meatloaf so I'll be right over. Serving sides with that? LOL

  2. I bought their first album when 'Dream On' was first starting to get airplay on L.A. radio stations. I loved that song!

Consequently, I wound up owning their first five albums on "licorice pizza". But the 'Draw The Line' album (1977) didn't really thrill me much, and that's where I stopped buying their releases. I guess you could say that's where I drew the line.

By the time I transferred my LPs to CDs - beginning in 1988 or '89 - I had lost interest in Aerosmith and never reacquired any of their albums in the new format.

Favorite Aerosmith song? Definitely their cover of 'Train Kept A-Rollin''. That song rocks so hard and it's great for driving to (but ya gotta watch that ya don't end up being cited for greatly exceeding the speed limit).

    1. Train Kept A-Rollin' is a dang good song! (checks to see if it's been used in BOTB before... but then realizes this is most likely a case where the cover far outshines the original) ... hmmm it's been used twice It was a tie for Mike in 2014 and a lopsided win in 2015 for Michele.

I'm a bit like you, I was a big fan back in the day, but lately, not as much.

  3. The Beach Boys, “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”

Good playlist! Aerosmith is OK: I don't own any of their albums, but like their music well enough.

    1. Thanks, John! I think I have one or two of the earlier albums. One on cassette, the other on CD. Couldn't even tell you which ones, though without looking them up.

  4. I love Aerosmith and Steven Tyler's colourful personality! 😎 Thanks for the playlist. We saw Aerosmith live in 2010 and would go again. When they did "Dream On" (the finale), Steven emerged slowly from beneath the stage in a cloud of coloured smoke, sitting at a white grand piano. That was a fabulous moment. 👌 Their Vegas show must be equally exciting!

  5. Mary,

I'm not sure when they popped up on my radar but ever since they did, I've been an Aerosmith fan. I loved it when Steve Tyler was on AI! He brought a lot of color to the show. :) "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" is one of my favorites. Excellent playlist!
