Love Is In The Air: Make It With You

February 16, 2020

Month-long celebration of Love featuring Love Songs from the 70’s, and we are half-way through the month!

You are more than welcome to join in the fun, all you need to do is include a link to your post in the comments so that everyone can visit. The more the merrier :)  Your songs do not need to be from the 70’s, but they do need to be Love Songs.

Alright! Let’s get this party started! Fill up those waterbeds, break out the black lights and disco balls and let’s have some fun!

The song for today -

Make It With You by Bread

Wikipedia tells us about this song:

"Make It with You" is a song written by David Gates and originally recorded by the pop-rock group Bread, of which Gates was a member. Only Gates and drummer Mike Botts appear on the song which was a #1 hit.

The song first appeared on Bread's 1970 album, On the Waters. Released as a single that June, it was the group's first top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and spent the week of August 22, 1970, at number one, their only single to do so; it also reached #5 on the UK Singles Chart. Billboard ranked "Make It with You" as the No. 13 song of 1970, and it was certified gold by the RIAA for sales of over one million copies.

Many artists have recorded cover versions of "Make It with You." Among the most notable is Ralfi Pagan's Latin-soul version which reached number 32 on the Billboard R&B chart in the summer of 1971.

Won’t you join me in this fun month-long theme? Again, all you need to do is post your link in the comments.

  1. Another classic.

Every song you’ve chosen so far ... I see the title of your post and I can hear the song in my head. So many good songs, so many good memories.

  2. I got the album this was on ("On The Water") as a freebie from someone who worked at WCFL. About half the songs were like this and some were more or less rockers. This is a good song.

  3. I used to love Bread and had the Best of Bread album which I played a lot. Unfortunately it turned out to be the songs that I now associate with an old relationship and they have lost their appeal for me.

  4. Hard to believe this song is 50 years old. I loved it then, I love it now.
