#Roadtrip: Illinois
Time to hit the road!
The premise behind this theme is to pick a location, and highlight some or all of the musical artists (not inclusive) that are associated with that location. The locations will not be limited to the continental United States. We’re going Everywhere!
From Wisconsin (our previous stop) we’re going to head South to Illinois. Our venue for today has put together a group of local musicians for us to enjoy. Don’t see your favorite musicians from Illinois? Well, hold on to your hats boys and girls. Just as we made multiple stops in Ontario - we’ve got multiple tour dates set up for Illinois.
Today’s Roadtrip Playlist:
Head East - rock band originally from East Central Illinois. The band was formed by vocalist John Schlitt, guitarist Danny Piper, keyboardist Roger Boyd, bassist Larry Boyd, and drummer Steve Huston. Today’s Song: Never Been Any Reason
Plain White T’s - rock band from Lombard, Illinois, formed in 1997 by high school friends Tom Higgenson, Dave Tirio, and Ken Fletcher. They were joined a short time later by Steve Mast. Today’s Song: Hey There Delilah
REO Speedwagon - rock band from Champaign, Illinois. Formed in 1967, the band cultivated a following during the 1970s and achieved significant commercial success throughout the 1980s. Today’s Song: Can’t Fight This Feeling
Fall Out Boy - rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, lead guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. The band originated from Chicago's hardcore punk scene, with which all members were involved at one point. Today’s Song: Centuries
Cheap Trick - rock band from Rockford, Illinois, formed in 1973. The band's classic lineup consisted of frontman Robin Zander, guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson, and drummer Bun E. Carlos. Today’s Song: The Flame
I’m trying to keep the playlists to 5 tunes each, so if you know of an artist associated with the location that was not featured, be sure to mention them in the comments. There’s always a good chance we’ll be re-visiting locations. I’m also open to suggestions for locations. In the meantime, I’m just meandering around the continent.
See you again soon!
