#Roadtrip: Wisconsin

Time to hit the road!

The premise behind this theme is to pick a location, and highlight some or all of the musical artists (not inclusive) that are associated with that location. The locations will not be limited to the continental United States. We’re going Everywhere!

From Toronto(our previous stop) we’re going to head West to Wisconsin. Our venue for today has put together a group of local musicians for us to enjoy.

Today’s Roadtrip Playlist:

  1. Bon Iver - Bon Iver  is an American indie folk band founded in 2006 by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon. Vernon released Bon Iver's debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago, independently in July 2007. The majority of that album was recorded while Vernon spent three months isolated in a cabin in northwestern Wisconsin. The band later won in 2012 the Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album for their album Bon Iver. Today’s Song: Holocene

  2. Timbuk3 - Timbuk3 was an American post-punk band which released six original studio albums between 1986 and 1995. The band's music has been featured on more than 20 compilation and soundtrack albums. Their name is a reference to the Malian city of Timbuktu. Today’s Song: The Future’s So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades

  3. Garbage - Garbage is an American rock band formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1993. The band consists of Scottish musician and lead singer Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig. All four members are involved in songwriting and production. Garbage has sold over 17 million albums worldwide. Today’s Song: Only Happy When It Rains

  4. Al Jarreau - Alwin Lopez Jarreau was an American singer and musician. He received a total of seven Grammy Awards and was nominated for over a dozen more. Jarreau is perhaps best known for his 1981 album Breakin' Away. He also sang the theme song of the 1980s television series Moonlighting, and was among the performers on the 1985 charity song "We Are the World." Today’s Song: Mornin’

  5. Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes are an American folk punk band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. The band consists of singer, guitarist and songwriter Gordon Gano, bassist Brian Ritchie, saxophonist and keyboardist Blaise Garza, and drummer John Sparrow. Today’s Song: Blister In The Sun

I’m trying to keep the playlists to 5 tunes each, so if you know of an artist associated with the location that was not featured, be sure to mention them in the comments. There’s always a good chance we’ll be re-visiting locations.  I’m also open to suggestions for locations.  In the meantime, I’m just meandering around the continent.

See you again soon!
