Weekly Song Challenge, Week 20

Time for the Weekly Song Challenge!

How it works:
Each week, I will provide a list of 3 topics or themes.

You come up with 1 song for each of the 3 themes.

Now, I know several of you like to plan ahead, so I’ve got a page prepared where you can find the upcoming themes..

This Week’s Song Challenge:

  1. A song written by Barry Gibb: Islands In The Stream

  2. A song written by Prince: Manic Monday

  3. A song written by Ed Sheeran: Love Yourself

I’ve decided to go with a simplified linky tool to make it easier for others to get to your blog posts. You are also most welcome to post in the comments as well.

See you all again next week!

  1. Mary,

It was a surprise to see "Islands In The Stream" under Barry Gibb's discography. I considered using it until I noticed one of my favorite 70s songs that he wrote and went with it. I learned back in January that Prince wrote "Manic Monday". The backstory goes something like he gave it to one of the gals in the band because he liked her if my memory serves me right. Justin Bieber I find it difficult to get into his music. He's a talented young man. I preferred his earlier stuff. You went with other singers recording the lyricists author like I did. :) Nice song features this week, my dear. Thanks for hosting the musical fun! Have a songsational day!

  2. I couldn't play your list as it won't allow me...bummer. I know the first 2 songs quite well and I am surprised by how many songs they wrote and others performed especially Prince. I couldn't play the last one with Eddie.

  3. I'll pass this week. I have no idea what an Ed Sheeran is...

  4. Barry Gibb song--"Heartbreaker". I loved how Dionne Warwick sang this!
Prince song--"Nothing Compares to U". Sinead of course sang it. She has an interesting anecdote about meeting Prince.
Ed Sheeran--I'm with John. What's an Ed Sheeran?

Let me know you stopped by and let me know what you liked about the post, or what you didn't like. If you're a blogger, be sure to include a link to your blog, so that I can easily reciprocate.
