Take This Job And...

It’s a new month and we have a new musical conductor! Cathy from Curious as a Cathy has given us a task. She says ‘Today is National Boss/Employee Exchange Day. How about some songs about filling another person’s work shoes or in general for those who don’t work outside the home’

Okay, here goes…

The first that comes to mind is Frank Sinatra’s My Way

Then we have Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5

How about some BTO?

Roy Orbison

And I’m sure we’ve all felt this way at one time or another…

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this blog hop.

  1. Hey girlfriend, Guess who's back!!! Yep, and here's my new link. https://newxmasdolly.blogspot.com/2021/09/xmasdollys-mondays-music-moves-me.html I had all kinds of problems. I even had to get a new computer. I was with these two other girls on this link, and they said they couldn't keep me anymore so what can I say. I had to check around, and I really can't afford to pay so I got a freebie, but I had to figure it out all over again (that's how I started out some odd years ago). Anyway, great picks my friend, and here's my new link: https://newxmasdolly.blogspot.com/2021/09/xmasdollys-mondays-music-moves-me.html Just in case!

  2. Mary,

Oh you betcha we've all felt like saying to the boss, "Take this job and shove it!" Of course, if we're smart then we just hold our tongue until we have another job lined up. lol Your music line up was nice. I don't remember the Roy Orbison's song, "Working For the Man". After looking on DuckDuckGo I see that it's an old song, released in 1962. The Wiki write up said this..."Released in 1962 as a double A-side with "Leah", it reached number one in Australia, number thirty-three in the US and the top 50 in Canada and England." What on earth does it mean by a double A-side? Does this mean there wasn't a B-side? And, which song hit #1? I thought this was confusing or maybe, my coffee still isn't working. Thanks for sharing the 4M dance floor with me, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

  3. I love your choices. The Sinatra song isn’t something I’d think of for the topic, but it really works.

  4. Love your picks here and My Way really works. I think many people would love to do say that to their employer in the last song...thankfully, not me. Great choices.

  5. We have Dolly and Johnny in common, and have different songs for BTO. Great list! "My way" was a fantastic choice...

  6. I never would have thought of "My Way". The Roy Orbinson song was new to me, also. I think we've all had the "Take This Job" moments, so that one was a natural. Overall, all great selections.
