New Year's Day Battle

Happy New Year! Can you believe it? We actually made it to 2022! I’m curious about what this year has in store for me.

Do you make resolutions?

I don’t. I usually have a set of short-term goals that I’m constantly working on and adding to, but I don’t do resolutions because no one sticks to those anyway.

Let’s celebrate the new year!

The first contender is Bon Jovi

Second Contender: U2

In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:

  1. Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me.

  2. Pick the contender that you prefer the most

  3. Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.

  4. Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out.  *I think this is a recent list, if not, Cathy keeps a current list on her battle posts.

    1. Stephen McCarthy (out of retirement!)

    2. Tossing It Out

    3. Mike’s Ramblings

    4. The Sound of One Hand Typing

    5. Curious As A Cathy

Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments!

  1. Happy New Year! Or is it Crappy New Year? The former I hope. I never bother with resolutions. I probably wouldn't keep them anyway.

I'd never heard the Bon Jovi song before. It's pretty good, but I've gotta go with U2 in this match. Their song had a unique sound which is why I guess it caught so much attention.

    I vote U2.

  2. U2 no question. I know at some point they became known as pretentious and are infamous in Ireland for keeping their money offshore to not pay taxes. They were great at the time of New Year's Day and still years later their Achtung Baby album (1991) was the best of its time. So, yeah, a vote for U2. Great song.

  3. I am all for U2 whom I love and this song is great. They get my vote for sure. I hope you will restart your Wednesday music theme as I did my own during Nov. and Dec but not like what you created.

  4. Happy New Year's, Mary! I'm just chillaxing today trying to slip a visit in when the mood hits. U2 might've gotten my vote on any other day but today, I'm going with Bon Jovi. I'm not sure why but I just prefer their "New Year's Day" song. I hope 2022 is a good one for you, my dear friend. You deserve it! Sending love and hugs your way, darlin'!

  5. A HAPPY 'N' HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO YA, MMQC!

I got 3 Margaritas in me yesterday (aka "Margarita Day"), which was a good thing because when I fell flat on my back after slipping on the icy street, I didn't feel a thing! (Gumby NEVER gets hurt! Make yerself like Gumby and stay safe!!)

Well, I'm no Bon Jovi fan, generally, and I didn't like anything about this particular song. But IT WILL BE A COLD, ICY AUGUST DAY IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA, before I'd ever vote for the MOST overrated and boring Rock band in the history of Rock music. (Psst! I'm referring to U2, but I'm sure you already knew that.)

So, please put my BOTB bote in the BON JOVI column and tell Bono I said to "P.O."

What we really need is more Tiny Tim in Battle Of The Bands!

Bless And Be Blessed, my friend!!
