Something New

This song was just released this month. Last year, when Ed Sheeran became a father for the first time, Elton John called him during the holidays and suggested they collaborate on a Christmas song. Ed sat down and wrote the chorus that afternoon, but thought he had plenty of time to do the rest at a later time. In March of this year, Australian record executive and promoter and good friend of Ed Sheeran, Michael Gudinski, passed away.  It was then that Ed decided that he needed to stop putting off his songwriting and finish up the new songs he had been working on.  I really wanted to share with you the ‘B’ side of this tune titled ‘Pull my Christmas Cracker and you’ll get more than a bang’ but I have not yet found the tune on YouTube.  Instead, I get to share the ‘A’ side, titled ‘Merry Christmas’.

The video is intended as a nod to all of the Christmas videos from various artists, in true Elton John & Ed Sheeran tongue in cheek style.  I’m actually impressed with the song. What are your thoughts?

BONUS:

LadBaby conspired with Ed & Elton for this twist on the new song: *Note the song begins after a short message.

That’s it for today. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

  5. Mary,

Earlier in the month, Patrick shared "Merry Christmas" on the dance floor. I had no idea Elton had released a new song much less a Christmas tune. It's really fun, festive ditty. It makes me happy to hear it. :) Merry Christmas and have a blessed new yer, dear friend!

  7. "Sausage Rolls" outdid "Merry Christmas", I think - it's so, so catchy and it's for a good cause. But both were good choices. I looked for the Christmas Cracker song and no, still doesn't appear to be on You Tube. Happy holidays! Happy New Year to you!
