May Battle Results

We’ve made it through the first official week of May.

Has Spring arrived? Not yet, but it’s trying.  We’ve had alternating days of weather in the high 60s and a mix of rain and snow this week.  We’re expecting a bit of snow again today.

My healthcare is in limbo again - at least for a few more days.A weeks ago the doc decided I was doing so well on the treatment that he should increase the dosage. That sent my body into a bit of a tailspin. Sudden loss of appetite, my platelet count dropped dramatically and my liver function suffered. So, we stopped taking the one drug completely last week and have had to do more bloodwork. In the meantime, my doc has moved on to another state to work (he was only here temporarily) On Thursday, I meet my new doc and get to discuss progress and our next steps in treatment.  But, I will say that after stopping the one drug, my appetite has returned and I am feeling quite a bit better.  Side note: I’m down 30 pounds since the end of January.  I sure hope with the return of the appetite, those pounds don’t return.  I’d like to lose at least another 70 more :)

Okay, back to the task at hand - the battle results!

So how did this one play out?   Ironically, the votes landed the same as last month, just different faces to the contenders.

Daughtry (aka Baldy Boy) with 2 votes

First to Eleven (aka Belly Button Girl) with 4 votes

Singing us out is our winner …

Be sure to come back on the First for another battle. I haven’t got that one figured out yet, so it will be a surprise to us all.

  1. At least you've got noticeable weather fluctuations. Here in L.A. one day seems pretty much like the last one although it has been getting warmer. I notice that. But it's not bad here.

Sorry to hear about those health issues, but glad to hear there is some improvement. I'm with you on that weight loss. I had lost about 15 lbs when I wasn't feeling up to par but I've gained that back. I'd rather not have weight loss due to illness though.

That was a nice Battle outcome especially since my pick came out on top.

"Baldy Boy" & "Belly Button Girl"? That's kinda mean. What a**hole came up with those nicknames?!

    No! Wait!! Don't say it.

Here in Willoughberry, our normally pert-dern accurate weather forecasters said we were getting snow yesterday, last night, and today. And although we did get some very light snow flurries (nuttin' what stuck on the ground), it really didn't "snow". Because what the forecasters didn't know was that I used (and am still using, as I type these woids) my secret weapon against snow:

I've been drinking CRUZAN Black Strap Rum (from St. Croix in the Virgin Islands) while listening to The Beach Boys. (At this very moment, the Beach Boys song 'Good Timin'' is playing and the Cruzan Black Strap Rum is only inches away from my left hand.) I know it sounds crazy, but this actually woiks to stop the snow. (And on the very rare occasions when it doesn't woik, if I drink enough Rum, I don't even care that it failed!)

Seriously, there is one liquor store here in Willoughberry that stocks CRUZAN Black Strap Rum only because they know I will come in for it every time there is a threat of snow in the forecast. (I love being Willoughberry's crazy old man. If only I had a lot of money, I could be Willoughberry's "eccentric" old man. But you gotta be wealthy to be called eccentric rather than crazy.)

I keep you in my prayers.
