Dog Days of Summer / August BOTB Results

It’s the Dog Days of Summer and Patrick from Adventures in Weseland wants us to put up a playlist for these Dog Days.

Being the Rebel that I am… Here's my playlist. Enjoy!

  • Atomic Dog - George Clinton
  • Who Let the Dogs Out - Baha Men
  • I’m Gonna Buy Me a Dog - The Monkees
  • Me and You and a Dog Named Boo - Lobo
  • Dog & Butterfly - Heart
  • Hair of the Dog - Nazareth
  • Run With the Pack - Bad Company
  • Junkyard Dog - Winger
  • Bark At the Moon - Ozzy Osbourne
  • Law Dogs - The Doobie Brothers

Before I sign off, I need to post results of the Battle of the Bands from last week.

The inspiration for the battle came from a post that I read online about Chris Cornell wanting to do a cover of U2’s ‘One’.  He wasn’t sure of all the lyrics, so like most people, he googled lyrics for ‘One’. Up came the lyrics for the Metallica song. The result was Chris putting the Metallica lyrics to the U2 tune.  Check out the video below, I think it turned out pretty well.

As for the battle results, well it’s obvious I’m losing my touch. Thank goodness Alana saved it from a complete shut out. The votes:  5 for Three Dog Night, 1 for U2

Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop.  If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this blog hop.

  1. The switched up "One" lyrics work pretty well. Since I tend to listen to music more than lyrics I'd be apt to not notice if a cover actually used the wrong lyrics. That summer play list will be dogging me now.

I don't know that you are losing your touch as much as the nature of the songs and your audience of voters. To me all the songs were great, but that Three Dog Night song has been with us for a longer time than the others. I know I attach more good memories to that song. It was a good Battle.

  2. I love that you went with dog songs! The Monkees are one of my favorite bands, that song is fun.

  4. Nice twist on the theme. I thought I had heard all Doobie Brothers songs as (I thought) husband had bought all the albums at one time or another, but this 2010 album, and this song, was new to me. My favorite of the set was the Ozzy Osbourne song. For some reason, I like his hits.

  5. Mary,

LOL, you literally were thinking 'dog' with your song picks! That didn't even cross my mind but then you are the rebel and should've expected as such from you. :D I loved your playlist! WOW, Alana saved your BOTB bacon with her vote! I didn't see that comin', though. I guess I should've figured such a classic band as Three Dog Night would trump U2. My last two or three battles were quite lopsided and at times a near shut out like with yours. Thanks for joining the 4M party, dearie. Have a boogietastic week!
