Battle Results: Miller v Waits

My apologies for getting these results out late. See, this past year has been really tough on me. The meds have taken a toll on my appetite… BUT the docs were tossing around possible remission (I’ll never fully be NED - No Evidence of Disease because that cancer metastasized in my lungs).  About 3 weeks ago, I had my latest PETScan.  One doc thought he saw something going on, but wanted to take a closer look at the actual scan vs the report. I wasn’t scheduled to see him again until this week.

On Saturday, a friend came over to help me clean out my pantry. We got rid of everything that was getting close to expiring and put together some food boxes to share with those in need. There was some running up and down the stairs.  After all was said and done, I sat in my recliner and felt like a heavy book was sitting on my chest. I also had pain radiating down the back of my left arm. I wasn’t sure if the pain and pressure was coming from my lungs or my heart. Not wanting to deal with the local yokel First Aid Stand (they call it an ER, but I’ve had nothing but bad luck there) and not wanting to impose on my friend to drive me the 25 miles to the ER that I trust, I opted to wrap up tightly in a blanket and lay down. The pain and pressure subsided in about an hour and a half.

Today I went in for my regular immunotherapy treatment and had an appointment with my doc as well. I told him about the weekend.  Next thing I know, my treatment is being canceled and my nurse is driving me across the street to the hospital.  Today was EKG and Chest Xray. Next week we will do a stress test.  I’m hoping it’s nothing concerning and I will resume my somewhat normal routine again soon.   Anyway… that’s my story of why I’m running behind.

Okay,  now let’s talk about these battle results.

I knew going in that Tom Waits would be a tough pill to swallow, but if you listen to him enough, he kind of grows on you (kind of like a fungus). I’m glad that John actually liked him.

Final results -

Glenn Miller with 7 votes

Tom Waits with 2 votes (John + Mine)

Our next Call Me Battle Round will see Glenn Miller taking on a new contender. However…

We will take a short pause in the Call Me battle and I’ve got a special January battle all set to go. I do hope you’ll join me for this. Here’s a hint: It’s Tradition!

Playing us out is our winner …

Thank you to everyone that took a moment to cast a vote.

  1. Mary,

Being late for posting is okay, my dear. I hope you get good news when you see the doctor next. You're so very kind to think of others cleaning out your pantry to help those in need. Thanks for sharing the outcome. I went with Glenn in this round. I'm taking a short hiatus next week but have three posts set to post in my absence. Have a blessed Christmas season, dear friend!

  2. That Glenn Miller song is new to me, and I found it came from a movie that has some Glenn Miller classics. Great find! Grows on you like a fungus - liked that, too. I did expect Glenn Miller to win this BOTB so no surprise. I'm so sorry for what is happening in the latest installment of your cancer journey and I am so blown away by you thinking of a food pantry's need in the middle of all this. Please don't ever stress again about posting "late". There is no late!

  5. LOL. Think long and hard about the suggested battles you sent. Mum's the word until then as I have no other clues to provide without it being a dead giveaway.

    1. Hmmm.... I just reexamined that list I sent you, and...
I think it must be either Day (White) versus Night (Black), or Day versus... "David" (not to be confused with the giant, Goliath, whom the diminutive David slew and then promptly said, "God bless us, every one"). :^D
