What an interesting week!
Some of you may have read that I wasn't feeling my absolute best when the battle went live… What had happened was this…
About 2 months ago, my doc decided to put me back on one of the drugs I had been off of for 6 months. The side effects were horrible. I could barely eat and was often doubled over in pain from hunger. The lab work started coming back with numbers all over the place. Last week doc took me off the drug again and I had a pet scan. The pet scan was on Wednesday. On Friday night that week, one of my molars in the very back of my mouth started to hurt. I decided I was just going to ride it out with orajel. Saturday morning I woke up with an abscess on my gums and it was getting bigger by the minute. Of course, with it being a Saturday, I wasn't able to find a dentist that would see me. One did return my call and suggested I go to urgent care to get an rx for antibiotics and then start my search again for a dentist on Monday. Late Saturday night, as I lay down in my bed, that abscess burst. Let me tell you… that was the worst experience of my life. Not wanting to lay down again after that, I slept in my recliner. By morning the abscess had completely drained and all pain was gone. Saw my oncologist on Thursday to go over the Pet results. The news isn’t good… but all I can do at this point is laugh, and laugh hard! Yup… here’s me staring down occurrence #4 - lymph node in my left lung lit up like a Christmas tree. Plus another anomaly that is probably the reason I am laughing the hardest - it’s a head scratcher and even the doc is confused - so much that I get to have an MRI on Tuesday to see if we can figure out what is really going on. Here’s the conversation I had with my cousin:
Me: pet scan shows my right gluteus maximus is showing up hot
Her: So... Your butt's on fire?
Me: I just don't get it. Why only one side?
Her husband: it's 'cause you have a crack down the middle!
It’s okay, you can laugh. I found it hilarious! Anyway… other than feeling rather exhausted all day long, I feel good.
Now let’s get on with the results of this thing!
First, I want to thank Stephen for being such a good sport about this battle. It was just what I needed to keep my mind off everything else going on in my life. The comments had me giggling like a schoolgirl.
So how did this battle turn out? Will Stephen be sleeping single in his double bed? Was it the end of the world for one of his favorite women?
Let’s find out!
Final results -
Brenda Lee with 8 votes
Karen Carpenter with 8 votes
Congratulations to Stephen! Looks like you get to keep both of them!
But Stephen, we opened a can of worms… and now Tiny Tim has a question for you ~
Tune in May 1st when Wilson Pickett will be taking on a new contender in the Call Me! battle series.
Mary, I'm so sorry you're dealing with yet more health challenges and admire your strength. Wishing you all the best! 🌹
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun battle and a tie seems fitting. Stephen will surely love that! 😀

I'm sorry to hear this, but that conversation really was funny. You either laugh or cry.....I'm surprised, honestly, to see that the contest was a tie, when it seemed that Karen Carpenter was so far ahead (at the time I voted). And as for that Tiny Tim video, what a hoot! That song was made for him. I think he was quite a talent, but too weird for a lot of people. It made me wonder how (if he had been born a few years later) and appeared on America's Got Talent, if he would have made it through.
ReplyDeleteI hate hearing about your health travails. Tooth and mouth pains can be some of the worst. Laughter is a great comforter and even a healer I believe. If you can't laugh then you might end up crying and crying rarely makes me feel better. Keep the positive outlook.
ReplyDeleteWhat a Battle outcome! I thought Karen would win easily, but a tie works for me. They were both good.

ReplyDeleteHokey-Smoke & Hoo-Wee!
I get to keep my wife *AND* my girlfriend?! It's a miracle, and this is a Win-Win for me!
Plus... I get Tiny Tim? OK, "sexy" probably isn't the word I would use for Tiny, but I still like his version of this song WAY BETTER'N Rod Stewart's cringey hit. Ugh! Tiny makes me laugh; Rod only made me "drop my wallet" (code for "vomit").
This was a fun Battle and I'm actually thrilled that it ended in a tie. (Are you sure about that? My Spidey-Sense says that there may have been some voting machine finaglin' goin' on... but I don't want to investigate it and possibly overturn my apple dumpling cart.)
Very sorry to hear about the health poo-poo news. BUT(!)... the good news is that I have a recommendation for you (no, no, not the apricot kernals again) that I will E to you pert-dern soon. Don't give up hope; keep the faith, because Dr. Stephen (husband of Brenda Lee, and boyfriend of Karen Carpenter) is riding to the rescue... if I don't get so drunkentoxicated that I can't stay on the horse that I steal.

I admire your courage and positivity, Mary. Keeping the good thoughts and prayers in my heart for you. If you have to have an MRI, at least it's not of your brain. I find that particular scan more frightening than what they might find. Your cousin's husband is a funny guy - and you're a treasure ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd Holy wiggling toad gizzards - what a battle! All is still right in Stephen's world, though I'm not sure either lady would approve of Tiny...:-)
Mary,
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, only you can turn terrible news into a reason to laugh. God truly broke the mold when He made you, girl! You make me laugh but my heart is heavy for you medical issues. You have others talking to the Man upstairs on your behalf, darlin'.
Your battle ended in a tie, like Debbie's. That's kind of unbelievable. Stephen's wife and girlfriend aren't going to have this, you know? :)
And to answer Tiny Tim's question. No. No, I do not think you're sexy. lol
This is the first time I've heard him singing without his falsetto voice. What a fun way to end your post!
My results are in today's 4M post. Whenever you feel like visiting, you're always welcome to swing by. I'll add this link to the dance floor for others to pop by to see how things went down. ;) XO
Yikes on the medication and the abscess. How awful. I hope things get better and soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week filled with good health and great music. ♥
