#AtoZChallenge : Angel

Alright boys and girls… it’s time to kick off the annual A to Z Blogging Challenge!

What’s the A to Z Blogging Challenge? Well… we start the month off with the letter A and follow each day (except Sunday) with the next letter of the alphabet. When we reach April 30, we will be on letter Z.  The challenge is a lot of fun and I’m hoping for a lot of interaction to take place here.

Here’s my plan:

Each day, I’ll pick a word to represent the letter of the alphabet. Then I’ll post 2 to 3 songs that have that word in the song title or lyrics.  I’m then going to ask you to leave a message in the comments section songs that also use the specified word.  Comments are set up so that there should not be any captcha and you should not have to sign in to anything to be able to comment. I do ask, though, that if you do comment anonymous, that you please include your name  (and URL if you are a blogger).

I'm also doing a Giveaway during the month of April.  Be sure to check that out.

But first - a few matters of business.

Okay! Are you ready to begin?

Here we go….

Today’s word is “Angel”

From Dictionary.com:

First up we have Shaggy ft. Rayvon with “Angel”
(This is not the video I wanted to use, but due to regional restrictions, and a whole slew of videos that had vocals mixed on low, my selections were very limited)

And here we have Aerosmith with their “Angel”

And my third selection is Juice Newton’s “Angel Of the Morning”

And that’s my 3 Angels for the day.  Let’s see what Angel songs you come up with. Share in the comments.

I do love me some Danny Trejo! I hadn't heard this song before either. I must admit - when the video starts out with Danny Trejo lip syncing - I almost couldn't take the video serious.

On my way over to catch your Ariel post now..

  5. Clever theme! I'd have to say "Angel" by Madonna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDbHQA5I-Ok), from the years when I liked her.

I love how this theme is interactive. I kind of 'borrowed' the idea from Robin. She did this a few years ago and I had so much playing along that I wanted to do it again this year. It's really too bad that Google has changed their features, as it would have been awesome to have the videos appear in the comments.

  6. Hi Mary!

Excellent theme, interesting song choices! Hadn't heard the Aerosmith "Angel" in ages. Did I hear a bit of Newton's tune in Shaggy's rendition?
Let's see..."She talks to Angels" by The Black Crows or "Angels among us" by Alabama.
    Thanks for the good thoughts!

    1. Hey Diedre!

You know, I hadn't noticed it before, but now that you mention it.. those first few notes in Shaggy's rendition do sound quite a bit like Newton's tune.

Black Crows and Alabama are great! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Cool! Loving the theme. Aerosmith is a classic and who doesn't like a little Juice Newton. Shaggy is new to me but I like it.
