#4M: Oh, Brother! Part 6

It’s a new month, and we have a new musical conductor. It’s Me! I get to choose our themes this month. Today’s theme is Free Choice.

In the past, we talked about bands composed of siblings, or siblings with friends. This is a continuation of that post. I should note, the source that I am using is rather lengthy. I am only sharing bands that I am familiar with.

Please enjoy this week’s playlist:

  1. Kings of Leon, an American rock band, Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill. Today’s Song: Sex On Fire
  2. The Kinks, an English rock band, Ray and Dave Davies. Today’s Song: Lola
  3. Gladys Knight & the Pips, an R&B/soul family musical act from Atlanta, Georgia that remained active on the music charts and performing circuit for three decades. The founding members were Gladys Knight, brother Merald "Bubba" Knight, sister Brenda Knight and cousins Eleanor and William Guest. Today’s Song: Midnight Train To Georgia
  4. Kool & the Gang, an American band formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964 by brothers Robert "Kool" Bell and Ronald Bell. Today’s Song: Get Down On It
  5. Lamb of God, an American metal band, Will and Chris Adler. Today’s Song: Redneck
  6. Lit, an American rock band formed in Orange County, California. Ajay and Jeremy Popoff. Today’s Song: My Own Worst Enemy
  7. The Marshall Tucker Band, an American rock band from Spartanburg, South Carolina that helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s. Toy and Tommy Caldwell. Today’s Song: Can’t You See

  1. Sorry I'm so late my friend, I got most of our friends early this morning & I usually start from the bottom up and I got a couple last night too! So, I heard your first song somew.... ohhhhhhh I remember this guy sang this song very similar on American idol and he was quite good and full of smiles. He acted like he was a No. 1 star... well, he got through to the next round anyway. hahahaha Yes, I'm still a big fan of American Idol, but I'm liking "The Voice" a lot more lately even the one in England too. That one is really good. Okay, enough jibber jabber... next up whatcha got for me... Ahhhhh "The Kinks"... cool! My girlfriends and I use to sing this in the car all the time... hahahaha ahhhhhhh YOUTH ahhhh wasn't it wonderful!?! Definitely an old favorite! Gladys Knight and the Pips mmmmm I just saw her and she's thin now, but she can still belt it out. It was a video for Aretha Franklin wake. Ooooooo Girl, Kool & the Gang in "Get down on it" oh yeah, me & my girls gettin' up to dance we took the floor. Awww man, those were the days. I can't do that anymore until I get this leg fixed. Walkin' with this stupid leg is no fun at all. Bummer. Lamb of God, an American metal band, Will and Chris Adler. I must tell you my friend. I'm just not into metal. At all! Sorry. Marshall Tucker Band yes, this one is more my speed. Great song too. Safety Dance I've heard this one before... fun is the best word for this one, right? hahaha Love it! The Moffatts I never heard of, but they're cute & good. Love the tune, but new to me. Yep, great harmony too! Now some rock tunes I can get into like AC/DC, this one isn't that bad either, so I can get into this one, but I will say this I'm not an all nighter on hard rock. Well, great job girlfriend. Thanks for the introduction to a lot of this too. Have a great day and ROCK ON! Be healthy, be safe & don't forget that mask! Have a great week!

  2. Today, I got to listen to two groups I've heard of - Kings of Leon and Lamb of God, several groups I knew but, in a couple of cases, not the song, and, finally, my second song ever by My Chemical Romance. I'm really getting to like My Chemical Romance. Some of these songs had so many views on You Tube that I had to wonder, where was I all of these years. Finally, have to comment - that live version of Safety Dance, a song I love - that was really strange. I'll always continue to enjoy the studio version, though. This theme - did I ever realize just how many "brothers" groups there were? Wow. Yikes.

    1. Yup.. lots of sibling groups out there. I only selected the ones that I had heard of or was vaguely familiar with - and ended up with a 9 segment series, each with 10 songs/groups. There were MANY more groups listed that I skipped over as I had no idea who they were.
